Back in September we learned that Caroline’s Salon would be be expanding from their La Fiesta Square location a few blocks away to Lafayette Mercantile with a new salon called Caroline’s Blowdrys & Base Color and they have now opened. Check out their services here.

The San Francisco International Auto Show is Northern California’s largest and most spectacular auto exhibition. It is the only Auto Show held regionally that lures the dazzling high-tech manufacturer displays and showcases automotive innovation. The show will feature more than 600 vehicles representing the work of 35 major manufacturers for the year 2018 and beyond. It will fill the newly remodeled Moscone Center with over one million square feet of exhibit space.
Among the manufacturers scheduled to exhibit their 2018 vehicles are: Acura; Aston Martin; Audi; Bentley; BMW; Buick; Chevrolet; Chrysler; Dodge; Fiat; Ford; Genesis; GMC; Honda; Hyundai; Infiniti; Jaguar; Jeep; KIA; Lamborghini; Land Rover; Lexus; Lincoln; Lotus; Mazda; Mercedes-Benz; Ram; Nissan; Rolls Royce; Smart; Scion; Subaru; Porsche; Toyota; Volkswagen; and Volvo.
Lyric, Walnut Creek
Over four years ago we first learned of a little public parklet within a new apartment and retail complex (now known as Lyric) coming to downtown Walnut Creek and the Water Light Public Plaza is now open to the public. As you can see in the photo below there is a new cool-looking work of art along the back wall.

Having a pressure cooker was never high up on my wishlist of kitchen appliances. Then I read this NY Times article about the pressure cooker Instant Pot and decided to get one. All I have to say is wow. It can cook fall-off-the-bone meats in less than an hour. Steel cut oats in 20 minutes. Real mac and cheese in 5 minutes. I’m really amazed by it. What is your favorite kitchen appliance? Do you have an electric pressure cooker? If so, what are you going to make with it for Thanksgiving?

The film is a biopic of Vincent Van Gogh, the tortured Dutch artist and focuses primarily of his last days. It is a bit of a mystery as to how, exactly, he died and the narrator seeks to solve it. The film is aesthetically beautiful and audiences have rated it at over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. The New York Times called it hypnotic and beguiling.”
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 4:00 and 7:00 PM.

Orinda Theatre Square
A new popup shop featuring Moraga-based Hofssi Chocolates and Hollie’s Homegrown farm-to-table food & gifts opened recently in the wine bar Cine Cuvée next to the Orinda movie theater. They are open every day from 11am to 5pm through December 23rd and the wine bar is still open after 5pm. You can also find Hollie’s at the Moraga and Walnut Creek Shadelands farmers market. Hofssi Chocolates will be offering their chocolates at various events which are listed here and can also be found at Diablo Foods.

Gott’s Roadside, the iconic Napa-based burger joint that we’ve been following since last year, is set to open early December in downtown Walnut Creek according to a reply on their Instagram photo.
