Rothy’s, a shoe and bag store originally based out of San Francisco and featuring products made from, “recycled plastic water bottles and post-consumer recycled materials”, is coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek this fall. Check out their online selection here.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Gusto Mio, a pizzeria and focacceria from the co-owner of Doppio Zero in Concord (and other locations), is set to open in downtown Walnut Creek next month in August.

2042 Mt Diablo Blvd, Walnut Creek
Up the Creek Records, which opened over seven years ago at Tice Valley Plaza, is relocating within Walnut Creek where Terra Outdoor Living used to be on Mt. Diablo Blvd. Check for updates on their Instagram page here, and read about the August move here, where they plan to expand their used record offerings, as well as, “add some tables and chairs for hanging out with friends while enjoying a snack and a drink, it will also house a designated, all-ages music venue that will host original musicians and artists as well as community events and classes, and be available during the week for band practice space!”.
This is a great space and location and I look forward to checking out the updated space when they open later this summer.

Last December, we learned that Chateau by Honey+Brie, a Parisian inspired restaurant lounge featuring small bites & seasonal offerings, would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek, and their signage is now up and they plan to open soon.
Plaza Center, Lafayette
Thanks to a reader for sending word that Craft & Fire Taproom, Artisan Pizza is “coming soon” to Plaza Center in Lafayette, right next to Whole Foods in the back, where Winebar 1976 was supposed to be.

Rheem Valley Shopping Center, Moraga
Moraga Jewelers is relocating within Rheem Valley Shopping Center where Natasha Grasso Jewelry used to be to make room for Grocery Outlet.
Just what we needed! Grocery Outlet is the perfect, classy addition to Dollar Tree in the same shopping center. I’m absolutely thrilled at the prospect of a cash-checking business opening next. And if the stars align, maybe we’ll eventually get a pawn shop. That would really be the icing on this gourmet cake!
