Spotted in downtown Walnut Creek at the Second to None consignment shop. I know I’ve seen this character before. Is it Disney related? Who is it?

The Walnut Creek city council recently passed an anti-smoking ordinance prohibiting smoking in condos and apartments, all of downtown and more according to the Contra Costa Times:
The City Council passed a strict secondhand-smoking ordinance Tuesday night that bans smoking in all multiunit residences, all of downtown, all recreational areas and all commercially zoned properties where there are outdoor dining areas or outdoor service areas, anyplace within 25 feet of entryways and operable windows, and in all public places. The council made an exemption, however, that does not require public or private golf courses to be smoke-free. And it doesn’t outlaw smoke from medical marijuana.
Do you support this strict smoking ordinance for Walnut Creek?
As e-cigarette shops seem to be sprouting up around Walnut Creek lately it got me wondering what people think of these nicotine delivery gadgets. Just yesterday the New York Times had an article about a rise seen in e-cigarette usage among middle and high school students which you can read here. One possible reason is the various flavors that are available such as Pina Colada and cherry which are banned in traditional cigarettes.
Do you think e-cigarettes are a positive influence that helps smokers quit and eliminates second hand smoke for others, or is this a gateway for children to become addicted to nicotine?
Last week a grey one, this week a black Lamborghini, spotted recently in Walnut Creek.

The Broadway Pointe parking garage in downtown Walnut Creek next to Starbucks is conveniently located and offers free 3 hour parking. Beware of the digital “Spaces Available” sign when valet parking is being offered. Take a look and you see “26 spaces available”, but I’ve fallen for that sign one too many times and when I went to Walnut Creek over the weekend for a split second was elated but knew I was asking for trouble and parked in another location. Later, as I peeked in I could see car after car streaming out. It could be that there happened to be a lot of cars leaving the garage but more likely is that people initially saw there were plenty of open spaces, entered the garage, wind around to the very top only to find a huge section blocked due to the valet parking, causing them to turn around and go all the way back down, wasting time, gas and patience.
I wonder if it’s possible to dynamically update the sign to take into account the valet parking spots?
I spotted these around downtown Walnut Creek the past month or so. Unobtrusive and nice way to keep the city clean.
This week I posted about two new sushi restaurants opening in downtown Walnut Creek, Oyama Sushi on N. Main St, and Hiro Sushi on Locust St. This got some commenters riled up who believe that Walnut Creek already has enough sushi places downtown. So for Friday’s question of the day, does Walnut Creek have too many sushi restaurants?
(I know the photo above is not in Walnut Creek but the name works for today’s question.)
Over the weekend I noticed two women with placards at the corners of S. Main St. and Olympic Blvd. in downtown Walnut Creek protesting the George Zimmerman trial that concluded last week. They pointed me to the We Are Not Trayvon Martin website:
It’s not enough to know you aren’t Trayvon. What will you do to change our country?
Hi, we are Joseph and Tobias, and we are here to recruit YOU in the fight against racism.
