Walnut Creek on Ice:
Don’t put away those ice skates just yet! Walnut Creek Downtown’s Walnut Creek On Ice is extending its season for one more week through Monday, January 19th. Special family-friendly events are planned at the rink on January 10 and 11.
Located in the heart of Walnut Creek at Civic Park, the rink’s hours of operation are:
· January 12-15 from 3 to 9pm
· Friday, January 16 from 11am to 11pm
· Saturday, January 17 from 11am to 11pm
· Sunday, January 18 from 11am to 9pm
· Monday, January 19 from 10am to 9pm
Prices begin at $11 per person including skate rental. Discounted rates are offered for groups, school field trips and scout troop outings of 20 or more. For every skating ticket collected this season, Contra Costa Oncology will make a donation to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.
Saturday, January 10: ABC7 News anchor Dan Ashley emcees ‘Skate for Hope,’ 1 to 4 p.m., to benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates which helps abused, neglected and abandoned children and youth in foster care in the Walnut Creek community. The afternoon features live music from ‘PUSH’, a hot chocolate bar, raffle prize drawings and more. Special Ice and De La Housaye & Associates are sponsor of this event.
Sunday, January 11: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., families can twirl around the ice with The Peter Pan Foundation’s Frosty & Friends, including Elsa, Olaf and other favorite fantasy characters. Free hot chocolate will be served.
