Fisher’s interest in the Amish began with her grandfather, who was raised Plain. Join us for an evening in which she discusses why mainstream culture is so fascinated by the Amish.
Fisher lives with her family in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the author of over 20 books, including Carol Award winner “The Search,” Christy Award finalist “The Waiting,” and “Amish Peace: Simple Wisdom for a Complicated World,” a finalist for the ECPA Book of the Year.
“Amish Wisdom” is a free app, available for iPhones, iPads and Androids, that delivers a daily proverb from the Penn Dutch tradition. Fisher also manages a blog called Amish Wisdom that provides readers with the latest books and information about the Plain people.

This August Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery has the pleasure and honor to exhibit 3 Bay Area artists. All 3 bring together a rich and diverse array of media. Julia Rymer’s “biological abstractions” are playful, graphite, acrylic and gouache on paper, mylar and wood. Jeffrey Sully features carved redwood and shaped mixed media paintings on wood and painter Gregory Vasgerdsian brings his fresh and bright alla prima plein heir oil paintings of impressionistic vineyard and local landscapes.

The amazing vocals of the early California Beach Boys made us all dream of warm sand, fast cars and hitting the surf. Then there was the British invasion beginning with the Beatles who had us all growing our hair and rushing out to by miniskirts and go-go boots. The Motown sound rocked Detroit and music was indeed the king that united a nation. There has never been any question that music was at it’s best from 1963 to 1969.

Petri is one of only two US female water polo players to have competed in four Olympic Games, and the only to have medaled in all four. She will share her “unpublished” Cinderella story about chasing both her personal and Olympic dreams. Petri inspires her audience members to be their “best self.” $5 per person. Pay at door.
