Issues such as civil rights, the environment, worker’s rights and women’s rights were beginning to move to the forefront of American’s minds. The San Ramon Valley was not immune to these changes. Blackhawk Plaza, Danville
San Ramon-based restaurant Fat Maddie’s opened their third location at Blackhawk Plaza in Danville where The Fieldhouse Sports Grill used to be.
501 Hartz Ave, Danville
Last spring we learned that Basil Leaf Cafe would be closing on Hartz Ave. in Danville and now the Tex-Mex restaurant Cocina Hermanas has opened in this spot. This the same owner as Harvest across the street. Check out their lunch menu here and dinner menu here.
Danville Square
The kickboxing gym iLoveKickboxing is opening a new studio at Danville Square this spring. They opened last summer in the Avalon apartment complex near the Pleasant Hill BART station in Walnut Creek (same franchise owner). Excited to see Lottie’s Creamery opening their third location in Danville where Danville Soup and Salad Shack used to be! Check for their latest flavors on their Facebook page here. Someone mentioned they have new owners which may explain the expansion. This is one of my favorites, made right in downtown Walnut Creek “pasteurizing local and seasonal ingredients”.

Danville Soup and Salad Shack closed only a couple of months after opening on E. Prospect Ave. in Danville. I was glad to have been able to try their clam chowder. Oh well.
