Thanks to a reader for pointing out that Burlington (Coat Factory) is coming to the Pleasant Hill Shopping Center where Toys R Us used to be before relocating to the Veranda shopping center in Concord, according to this Mercury News article.

Black Angus Steakhouse, which closed last July in Pleasant Hill after a small electrical fire damaged the building exterior, has reopened with a similar interior and slightly revamped menu. Check out their menu here. I had a chance to try the prime rib steak, which are aged at least 21 days, and it was super-tasty.

Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
Last February we learned that the San Ramon-based restaurant Fat Maddie’s would be opening in the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center where Pasta Pomodoro used to be and they have now opened. Based on the planters in front it looks like there will be front and side patio seating. Check out their menu here.

Participants will be able to: identify 6 critical functions of trees and how to use them in the garden; what types of trees and plants to use for desired functions; what to plant around trees; how to build high-density planting structures.

Over the weekend Colorado-based spavia opened their first spa in the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center. Check out the Pleasant Hill services including pricing here. In addition to per-treatment payment options they also various memberships for with better pricing here. I checked out the inside and they have nice women’s (and men’s) rest lounges offering tea and heated neck towels. Showers are available as well. Looks very relaxing! The owners have plenty of spa experience and were very nice and welcoming. Check it out if you’re in the area.

College Square, Pleasant Hill
iTea boba cafes seem to be popping up all over these days with the latest in the College Square shopping mall near Diablo Valley College (DVC) on Golf Club Rd. in Pleasant Hill. These drinks are sweet enough for me at 30% so I’m glad they offer sweetness options. In addition to various food items they also offer games including Battleship along the wall. Thanks to a reader for sending word about this opening.
