WHAT’S INTERESTING ABOUT THIS CONCERT– The Composer Is Dead was composed with text by Lemony Snicket as a whodunit mystery for all ages, written in the style of Prokofiev’s Peter & the Wolf and Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, and someone in the orchestra is guilty!

Last month Alamo-based Brass Bear Delicatessen closed in downtown Walnut Creek and now a new deli called Main Street Deli opened in its place. Check out their menu here. They use Metro Deli meats and a sign inside proclaims, “best sandwiches in town”.
From their website:
Brian Alikhani, owner of Main Street Deli, comes from a family of restaurant owners. His father attended culinary school in France and taught him about French cuisine, but Brian was always more interested in making great sandwiches. He also has a PhD in Science and is interested in US History.

The organic frozen yogurt cafe Blush closed recently in Walnut Creek right near Whole Foods and what other than a new poke restaurant called Pokeatery is opening in its place by year-end. Check out their menu here. Thanks to everyone who sent word about this.
From a press release:
Pokeatery, the Bay Area-based build-your-own poké concept, has announced that their first franchised location will open by year’s end in Walnut Creek, CA. The store is the first of three locations set to open in Northern California as part of a multi-unit deal with franchisees Gary Zhu and Julie Ren.
Pokeatery has gained much notoriety in Northern California for its authentic Hawaiian flavors and customizable poké bowls, brought to the mainland by restaurant industry veterans and founders Joann and Derek Chung. The husband and wife duo built Pokeatery’s menu on a commitment to offering fresh, responsibly-sourced ingredients in all of their menu items. A few standouts are the build-your-own poké boxes (customer’s choice of base, proteins, and unlimited mix-ins, sauces, and toppings), pokecado toast (whole wheat toast loaded with avocado, fresh poké, and a variety of topping options), and Dole Whip floats (pineapple soft serve in pineapple juice).

The eagerly anticipated opening of Napa-based Gott’s Roadside in downtown Walnut Creek is today and with long communal tables in the center as well as private tables at the perimeter and outdoor tables there should be plenty of space to grab a spot to try their new vegetarian Impossible burger (amazing!) or one of their classic burgers or salads. Check out their menu here. For those who have been to one of their other locations such as the Ferry Building in San Francisco, the food and ordering process is the same (with the vibrating disc alerting you to go to the far side for pickup). A bar is located conveniently nearby to grab a drink while watching the latest game. I’ve had many burgers at Gott’s which I’ve always enjoyed but I was pleasantly surprised by the Impossible Burger. It really exceeded my expectations. Take a look at a close up of the burger after the jump as well as plenty more photos.
Plenty more photos after the jump…
