Do you know what’s going on with the massive chain link gates recently installed at the Walnut Creek BART station? Why are they there?
Anyone know?

Walnut Festival Twilight Parade:
Main St, Walnut Creek
Saturday, September 19th, 2015
6:00pm | FreeThe Walnut Festival Twilight Parade is the kick off event for the city of Walnut Creek’s 78th annual Festival.
The Twilight Parade is being held on Saturday September 19, 2015. The parade starts at
6 p.m. and will travel along Main Street in Walnut Creek, CA, from Mt. Diablo Boulevard to Civic Drive, ending at Civic Park. This year’s theme, “Through The Wide Eyes of a Child“, is all about imagination and whimsically created costumes, floats, decorated cars, motorcycles, bicycles, bands, drill teams, cheer teams and all others who will entertain us with their talents and creativity.
We look forward to seeing all of our friends and family joining in on the theme and attending the parade in costume.
Encina Grande, Walnut Creek
There has been lots of progress on the redevelopment going on at Encina Grande on Ygnacio Valley Rd. in Walnut Creek. As you can see the new Walgreens exterior on the far end is up as are the neighboring shops next door as shown in the photo below. What a difference compared to how this shopping center looked before.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
This week we learned that the activewear clothing store YOGASMOGA would be joining other activewear shops before year’s end at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, including Athleta, Lululemon, Kit & Ace, and Ivviva. Is the activewear fashion movement here to stay or is this a fad that will subside in the future? Do you feel there are too many activewear shops coming to Broadway Plaza?
3737 Valley Vista Rd, Walnut Creek
The rumors have been swirling for years now but unfortunately it’s game over for the Valley Vista Tennis Club and the entire ClubSport center as it is closing on January 31st in Walnut Creek. According to an employee I spoke with it looks like the owners are looking to sell. Considering the head pro left recently along with several other pros this isn’t coming as a complete surprise but this is very disappointing!
What other tennis options are there besides Heather Farms?
Ygnacio Valley Rd. and Oak Grove Rd, Walnut Creek
In March we learned that The Orchards at Walnut Creek shopping center located across from the Encina Grande shopping center was delayed but development is back on track with a sign indicating a fall, 2016 opening. Safeway will be relocating from Encina Grande, along with the gym Crunch, the department store Stein Mart, and Petco. Check for updates at their website here.

Based on the iconic 1969 rock concept album, The Who’s Tommy is an exhilarating story of hope, healing, and the human spirit. The story of the pinball-playing, deaf, dumb and blind boy who triumphs over his adversities has inspired, amazed, and puzzled audiences for more than 40 years. This five-time TONY Award-winning musical was translated to the stage by theatrical wizard Des McAnuff into a high-energy, one-of-a-kind theatrical event.
