LA Boxing Bought by UFC Gym, New Signage Up in Walnut Creek

Located at the corner of N. Broadway and Lincoln Ave. in downtown Walnut Creek, the small gym LA Boxing with dozens of punching bags inside has been bought out by UFC Gym and the Walnut Creek signage has been changed to reflect the new ownership within the past month.

Whole Foods to Open at Encina Grande Shopping Center on Ygnacio Valley Rd

I missed this earlier but thanks to a reader for reminding me that Whole Foods plans on opening a second location in Walnut Creek at the Encina Grande shopping center where Safeway currently is within the next couple of years. Check out more information on the opening at Claycord.

Safeway is planning on relocating to Shadelands right nearby into a much bigger complex which is causing some controversy among local residents who want to preserve the open space among other things.

So are you excited about Whole Foods coming to that part of Walnut Creek or are you happy with Nob Hill Foods and Safeway as it currently is?

Atlas Men’s Shop Reopens on Botelho Drive in Walnut Creek

A couple of weeks ago I noted that the men’s boutique Atlas was moving from their N. Main St. location to Botelho Dr. across the street from Men’s Wearhouse in downtown Walnut Creek and they are now open. As I suspected the numerous windows really help show off what they offer and the inside looks great like in their old location:

Denica’s Cafe – Real Food Kitchen Opening this Fall in Walnut Creek

Denica’s Cafe – Real Food Kitchen, the Dublin based bakery and restaurant is planning on opening a new location in Walnut Creek this fall (in the Nob Hill shopping center) and are having a job fair tomorrow at their Dublin location for all three locations (Dublin, Walnut Creek and Livermore) according to a Craigslist posting here. The Chldren’s Place Closes in Walnut Creek

The Children’s Place has closed in downtown Walnut Creek at the corner of S. Main St. and Botelho Dr. so you’ll have to head out to the Sunvalley Mall in Concord for the nearest location of this children’s clothing store. Although it’s a nice corner location it seems a bit removed from the more bustling Broadway Plaza area and Locust St. where the Cheesecake Factory is, both only a block away.
