After several years at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, Amazon Books is closing, not only here, but everywhere. They opened an opportune time, a couple of years after Barnes & Noble closed a few blocks away. And now, in an ironic twist, Barnes & Noble is coming to a new spot in downtown Walnut Creek at Plaza Escuela, where Forever 21 used to be. What goes around, comes around, I suppose! Will you miss Amazon Books at all? I remember when they had a Peet’s cafe, I would get a cheap muffin, and after some browsing, head out to the Capital One cafe a few blocks away for a 50% off drink.

Thanks to everyone who emailed that Sur la Table is closing at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek. They expect to close at the end of March, possibly sooner if they sell out. Not too long ago, downtown Walnut Creek had four dedicated kitchen stores, Kitchen Table, Le Creuset, Viking and Williams-Sonoma. Sadly, only Williams-Sonoma will remain, although there is a nice kitchen section at David M. Brian in the basement.
