Thanks to everyone who emailed that The Dallas Morning News has reported that Neiman Marcus, which opened in 2012 at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek, has added this location as one of the nine stores to its closing list. It’s expected to close after Christmas. The boarded up windows you see in the above photo were taken over the weekend due to a downtown demonstration.
Thanks to a reader for sending a photo of the Bullman with Bulldog sculpture that has been yarn bombed by Bedford Gallery Docent Adrienne Rogers. Previously masked Bullman with Bulldog photos are here and here.

I’ve received quite a few emails about Scott’s Seafood in Walnut Creek… They look to be closed for the time being, despite indicating they’re open on their Facebook page. If they are planning to reopen once indoor dining is available, why wouldn’t they mention this on their website and social media pages?
From a Facebook Community Post, “We will re-open in both locations when the ban on indoor dining lifts.”
Up the Creek Records is doing Record Store Day online this year… Check out the list of titles here and get the drop entry form here. Detailed instructions are here and remember to get the form back to them by August 28th. By supporting local business like Up the Creek Records, you’ll be helping the community out as well as having fun getting some cool vinyl records!
Although the Write That Down Stationery and Gift Boutique closed in Walnut Creek, “due to COVID in May”, they are still open online. They have a 30% off summer sale and a very cool stationery selection so I encourage you to check them out and support a locally owned business online for now.
From their website:
In January 2020, we opened our first and only Write That Down storefront in downtown Walnut Creek, California. The shop featured a curated selection of greeting cards, stationery and gifts for all ages. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic we had to permanently close our brick & mortar shop in May 2020. However, Write That Down will carry on through our online shop until we can open again in a new location.
