I can’t believe I’m writing this but Corners Tavern is closing in downtown Walnut Creek with their last day being Wednesday, July 10th. It was one of the first restaurants I previewed on this blog over seven years ago and enjoyed many meals here with my family over the years. Sad to see them go! 😢
Newell Promenade, Walnut Creek
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Vietnamese restaurant Pho Saigon closed recently at Newell Promenade in downtown Walnut Creek. Thanks to a reader for sending word about this. I imagine the remodeling going on there hasn’t helped, right?
Encina Grande, Walnut Creek
Rounding out a brutal week in Walnut Creek restaurant closings, Evie’s Hamburgers closed recently at the Encina Grande shopping center in Walnut Creek. This comes after Cinco de Mayo, Stanford’s, Tender Greens, and Andy Sushi, not to mention the jazz club Impulse Room closing, all with the last week or so. A new restaurant called Taqueria Magico is planning on opening in the former Evie’s spot in the beginning of August.
1690 Locust St, Walnut Creek
More restaurant action in downtown Walnut Creek as Andy Sushi, which opened a few years ago, closes, to be replaced by a new restaurant called Tacos Walnut Creek. Thanks to everyone who emailed about this and especially to one reader who also sent a photo.

The home theater installer Pro Home Systems which relocated next door a couple of years ago in downtown Walnut Creek has closed.

Last month the Mexican restaurant Cinco de Mayo closed in downtown Walnut Creek and Patron Mexican Grill has now opened in this spot. Anyone try this place yet? How does it compare to Cinco?
