A couple of years ago we learned that the proposed In-N-Out Burger for Walnut Creek was cancelled due to potential traffic issues but now Amy’s Drive Thru is hoping to open a new vegetarian restaurant in this spot. Despite the name they will also offer sit down tables. Get updates about this proposed Walnut Creek location from their mailing list here and check out their menu here.
From a PR:
Amy’s Drive Thru offers great-tasting casual fare, like veggie burgers, shakes, french fries, pizza and burritos — all with gluten free and dairy free options.
“We are proposing to bring our next-level vegetarian fare to Walnut Creek with an Amy’s Drive Thru at the corner of 2nd Avenue and N. Main Street,” said Dave Wolfgram, President of Amy’s Drive Thru Restaurants. “We are focusing on providing the neighborhood with delicious and affordable organic food in a beautiful, community-oriented restaurant where all feel welcome.”
Wolfgram added that while the majority of Amy’s customers dine in, the drive-thru option is especially popular with young families, seniors, and those with limited mobility. From the building’s living roof to the fresh and modern interior, nearly everything at the Walnut Creek Amy’s will feel different than a typical fast-food restaurant. “We want delicious and affordable organic food to be readily available to everyone,” Wolfgram said.

A couple of years ago we learned that the restaurant Vic Stweart’s would be closing to make way for a new retail development, Historic Walnut Creek Station House, which is almost complete as you can see in the above photo. During the demolition process you could actually see the Southern Pacific rail car before it was shipped off to the Martinez Historical Society museum.

Pancoast Pizza, which we learned would be expanding last year in Walnut Creek near Las Lomas High School is planning to reopen next month sometime in May. Check out their menu here.
From the owner:
We will have an expanded dining room and outdoor seating, additional menu items such as cheesesteaks, chicken wings, additional chicken options for salads & pizzas, cookies and finally craft tap beer/pitchers and soda. We can now accommodate larger parties at our new 10 foot table made personally by Bob Pancoast.
From Walnut Creek PD:
Jacques Bloxham was arrested yesterday for PC 647(j)(2) – using a camera device to secretly record the undergarments of another person, and PC 647.6 – annoying or molesting a child under 18 years.
On 04/21/2019 around 3:00 p.m., Bloxham was inside the Walnut Creek Apple store. He had placed a camera on the top of his shoe and moved his shoe so that the camera was under a female juvenile’s dress. The juvenile’s father saw what was happening and immediately told Bloxham to stop. Bloxham ran away from the Apple store but was pursued by a customer. Walnut Creek officers were able to catch Bloxham nearby and he was arrested shortly thereafter. A search of Bloxham’s car was conducted pursuant to his arrest. Cameras and recording devices were located and seized, including the one from the top of his shoe.
Walnut Creek Police Detectives request that if you have any information pertaining to this case that you contact Detective Gerstner at 925-256-3578.

Last month downtown Walnut Creek had NO Burmese restaurants and by next month there will be two of them as Burma 2 is expected to open next month in May where Siam Fine Thai used to be. The other Burmese restaurant, Burma Unique, opened just this week. Check out their website here. However, I wonder what’s going on in front of the restaurant as that looks like a pretty big hole down there.

The boba/poke restaurant T4 & Poke which opened a couple of years ago in downtown Walnut Creek is switching things up as they get rid of the poke and will be known as Amausaan Uji Matcha / Japanese Cuisine & Lounge. The boba drinks will remain as they offer Japanese desserts such as Matcha Mille Crepe. Check out their menu here. As a fan of Japanese desserts I look forward to trying this place out!
