A new musical art project called, Painted Pianos, highlighting ten pianos painted by local artists, was recently placed around downtown Walnut Creek. Above you can see local artist Ally McKay putting the finishing touches on the piano on Locust St. Check out her Insta page here. More information about the project can be found here. There will be live performances every Tuesday from 12-1 pm through mid-October at the following locations:

Thanks to all who emailed that the Vietnamese restaurant Mangosteen, which opened last August, has closed. A new Mexican restaurant called Capullo will be opening in this spot according to a coming soon sign in the window. Is it my imagination or are more and more Mexican restaurants opening around here these days?



2099 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Walnut Creek
In May we learned that a Brooklyn-based bike shop called R&A Cycles would be coming to Walnut Creek where The Golf Mart used to be and renderings have been posted on the window showing what it’ll look like. Check out their online selection here.


Plaza Escuela, Walnut Creek
The fitness studio TruFusion opened recently at Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek. In addition to a variety of classes they also have an organic health bar, childcare and really nice locker rooms with showers.
