Last year, we learned that a beautiful downtown Walnut Creek tree ceased to exist, leaving only a stump in its place. Alas, as seen in the above forlorn photo, tree and stump are no more, replaced by hopeful ground cover that looks like it could be a nice host for a new tree. Possibly when construction of the building in back has been completed?

After six years, the athletic club Life Time has finally opened at Broadway Plaza, right across from Macy’s in downtown Walnut Creek. At over 76,000 square feet, as expected, this place is massive! My favorite parts I got to preview was the sauna, cold plunge pool, rooftop pool, basketball/pickleball courts and cycling studio. They even have a full size salon on the lower level! If money were no object, I would definitely join this club as there is so much to do. If you’re in the area, definitely drop by LifeCafe for a refreshing drink. Don’t forget to check out more photos of the inside, including the cold plunge pool, pool loungers and workout areas after the jump! A comprehensive list of offerings is detailed below:
Spanning four levels, members have access to an endless array of best-in-class programs, amenities and services that symbolize Life Time’s commitment to help people live healthy, happy lives. The new athletic country club features the area’s first rooftop beach club with a six-lane lap pool, splash pad for kids, whirlpool, cabana style seating, and a LifeCafe poolside bistro. Additionally, the club boasts the ultimate boutique experience with five studios for Life Time’s exclusive collection of classes featuring more than 100 every week in barre, cycling, high-intensity, Pilates, strength training and yoga. Other highlights include:
• Space for Life Time’s Signature Group Training, Dynamic Personal Training and Dynamic Stretch.
• A full-size indoor basketball court with three pickleball courts
• An expansive fitness floor with state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated space for Life Time’s exclusive Dynamic Personal Training services
