I couldn’t help but chuckle at the FRESH CREAM PUFFS signage outside a dessert place in Cupertino, with only CREAM PUFFS lit up. I guess if I want fresh cream puffs I’ll have to look elsewhere.

City Center Bishop Ranch, San Ramon
While checking out City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon over the weekend, I noticed many people walking by drenched in colors. It was only later that I realized this was part of the Holi festival. According to this Wikipedia article, “Holi is a major Hindu festival celebrated as the Festival of Colours, Love, Equality and Spring”.
From the event page:
Experience the energy of music, dancing, and the playful tradition of throwing colors on Bishop Drive.

Last month, we learned that Mr. Dewie’s Cashew Creamery, “free of dairy, gluten, and soy” would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek, and they have now opened. Check out their flavor menu here. And remember, this ice cream has, “no fillers, additives, preservatives, gums, or oils — truly homemade!”

Last year, we learned that Craft & Fire Taproom, Artisan Pizza, featuring, “30 rotating taps of craft beer, ales, sours, ciders” and more, would be coming to Plaza Center in Lafayette behind Whole Foods, and according to a sign in their window, look for a spring opening. Check for updates on their Insta here, and website here.
950 Hough Avenue, Lafayette
Blue Oak condominiums in downtown Lafayette, featuring 20 2 and 3 bedroom condominiums, looks quite nice. Check out the floorplans here and learn more about the amenities, such as an “outdoor roof deck with fire place and BBQ”, and a “community dining area with bar lounge”, here.
From their website:
With only (20), 2 and 3 bedroom homes, you’ll be part of a close-knit community. From the comfort of home you can enjoy a workout or yoga session in the gym, drinks with friends in the lounge, or a quiet read at an exterior fireplace.
This may be the longest I have waited to post after learning of a new opening. About ten years ago, I posted about F&M Bank coming to the former Target garden center in Walnut Creek, and it’s finally happening as you can see in the above photo. I wonder if this will be a relocation from their current downtown location on N. Broadway near Mt. Diablo Blvd?
From their website:
Founded in 1916, F&M Bank is a locally owned and operated community bank, headquartered in Lodi, California proudly serving California through 33 convenient locations. We are the 15th largest agriculture lender in the United States, and the largest community bank lender to agriculture west of the Rocky Mountains. F&M Bank operates in the Central Valley of California from Sacramento to Merced. In 2013, F&M Bank expanded and now also operates in the San Francisco Bay Area with full-service branches in Walnut Creek, Concord, Napa and Oakland Hills.
3519 Golden Gate Way, Lafayette
I noticed Park Theater in Lafayette, closed since 2004, has fencing around it now with signs pointing to Park Theater Trust, a “Public Benefit corporation” looking to restore the theater to its former glory. Check out their FAQ here.

Thanks to a reader for sending word a while back that Hollister is coming to part of where Old Navy used to be at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek. Check out their online selection here.
Interesting that when I tried to learn more about the brand by checking out their About page, all I found was info about brand protection:
as we continue to create awesome clothes, counterfeiters are making cheap knockoffs that are often mistaken for the real deal. The only way to be sure you’re buying genuine Hollister gear is to go through authorized sales channels.
If you think you have counterfeit Hollister product, or if you see our stuff somewhere other than one of our stores, let us know. Just drop us a note at BP_Tips@HollisterCo.com.
