The Veranda, Concord
Earlier this month we learned that Coffee Shop would be opening this summer in the Veranda shopping center in Concord and right next door, Residual Sugar Wine Bar, with their main location in downtown Walnut Creek, is progressing as well as you can see in these photos. There is a huge patio area on the side and the fountains in front of the IMAX theater are nearby so this is going to be a great spot to hang out once they open.

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that Burlington (Coat Factory) is coming to the Pleasant Hill Shopping Center where Toys R Us used to be before relocating to the Veranda shopping center in Concord, according to this Mercury News article.

Saturday, June 16th – Sunday June 17th, 2018On June 16th and 17th, visitors are invited to explore the 1863 Union Army post at Camp Reynolds and become recruits to the Union Army, Try their hand at baking army bread and learning other soldierly skills.
There will be exciting mock battles between Union and Confederate forces each day by historic re-enactors and park volunteers on the parade ground.
Late last month we saw that the bronze cougar sculpture reappeared in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and the Bronze Buck sculpture is back as well, this time in front of ZARA. 👍

In the beginning of May we learned of a new restaurant called Roll House Specialty Rolls opening in downtown Walnut Creek where Main Street Deli / Brass Bear Delicatessen used to be and it looks like they’re almost finished judging from a look inside. I couldn’t find any online presence yet…

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that The Art of Shaving is closing in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. Note that 40% off sign is only for those who join their “replenishment club“. I wonder if all the construction going on impacted their sales. Too bad they decided to close now because the Apple store is almost finished, the men’s clothing store UNTUCKit opened recently nearby, and another men’s clothing store, Bonobos is set to open nearby as well.
