My husband and I both grew up in Alamo, and our first date was at Alamo Creek Restaurant (now Lamorinda Pizza). As an anniversary present, I am trying to find a photo, menu, or really anything from the restaurant. I know you post a lot of restaurant openings/closings so I am hoping you might have a photo.

Famed Wildlife Activist who Stopped the Dolphin Slaughter to Speak:
Lindsay Wildlife Experience
1931 First Ave, Walnut Creek
Monday, March 19th, 2018
9:30am – 12:00pm | $45Enjoy brunch among Lindsay’s owls, hawks, porcupine, and wildlife ambassadors, followed by a riveting presentation by internationally-acclaimed wildlife activist Sam Labudde, on Monday, March 19, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Every year, Lindsay Wildlife Alliance coordinates a world-renowned speaker for their spring fundraiser. This year, the Alliance is partnering with Lindsay’s Conservation Icons speaker series for one of their most fascinating speakers yet! Sam Labudde is the 1991 Goldman Environmental Prize winner, and orchestrator of one of the most successful consumer boycotts in history, after he recorded the first video footage in 1988 of dolphins dying in tuna nets. His campaign led to the Dolphin Safe tuna program, establishing global standards to stop the setting of driftnets on dolphins. More than 95 percent of the world’s tuna companies are now committed to Dolphin Safe fishing practices, and the Dolphin Safe label is now on canned tuna in markets throughout the world.

Yesterday we learned that The Vitamin Shoppe will be closing at the end of March in downtown Walnut Creek with a Starbucks opening in its place. However, according to a solid source this is not going to be any old ordinary Starbucks; rather look for a new Starbucks Reserve to open here featuring a “more intimate small-lot coffee experience”. Find out more about the Starbucks Reserve concept on their website here. Note that a Starbucks Reserve will be opening on Hartz Ave. in Danville as well.
From the Starbucks Reserve website:
Apart from the full-scale theatricality of the Starbucks Reserve™ Roasteries, our bars and stores offer a more intimate small-lot coffee experience. These are the perfect places to pick up Starbucks Reserve™ whole bean coffee, enjoy a handcrafted Starbucks Reserve™ beverage and chat with a barista about all things coffee.
The Veranda, Concord
Yesterday we learned that Super Duper Burgers will be opening within a few weeks in the Veranda shopping center in Concord, and as I walked around I could see quite a few new stores going in with one of the more interesting ones opening here is a Banana Republic Factory Outlet as you can see by the temporary sign in the above photo.

The Veranda, Concord
We’ve been eagerly anticipating Super Duper Burgers opening their first East Bay location at the new Veranda shopping center in Concord since last April and according to the general manager they are expecting to open in mid-March! This location will feature a drive-thru (visible at left in the above photo) as well a breakfast menu. There is plenty of seating inside as well as large outdoor patio in front. Check out their menu (including breakfast items) here. Breakfast will be available from 7am – 11am. Burgers, cooked fresh to order will take 8 – 10 minutes. More photos of the inside as well the outdoor patio area are available after the jump.
From their menu:
Super Duper’s breakfast sandwiches are made using farm-fresh organic eggs, cheddar, and your choice of bacon or sausage. For something sweet, we offer house-made donuts with either a sugar dusting or sugar glaze. Complete your breakfast with fresh-squeezed orange juice and artisan coffee from our friends at Four Barrel.
We make our donuts fresh each morning using a super-secret recipe and an old-fashioned donut machine. They come dressed in a dusting of cinnamon sugar, a sugar glaze or a chocolate glaze.
More photos after the jump…
1601 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for sending word that The Vitamin Shoppe is closing in downtown Walnut Creek at the corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Locust St. A sign in the window points out that March 31st will be their last day and their Pleasant Hill location will remain open.
Interestingly, an employee there said that Starbucks will be opening here. It’s funny how I asked whether downtown Walnut Creek has too many Starbucks way back in 2013! As I stroll down Locust Street passing Peet’s, then Coffee Shop, to think Starbucks will be opening in yet another spot nearby, I wonder…
