Package thefts have become epidemic during the holiday season; has anyone had their packages stolen?
From the Walnut Creek PD:
On 12/16/15 at approx. 1633 hours, a citizen saw a suspicious green 1994 Chevy S10 pickup truck parked in front of her residence with two subjects inside opening packages. When the subjects saw the citizen looking at them, they quickly drove away. The citizen obtained the license plate of this Chevy pickup truck and called the Walnut Creek Police Department. As Walnut Creek PD officers were responding to the area of Lakewood Circle, they located this green Chevy leaving the area and made a traffic stop. Officers contacted Craig Lancaster and Shawna Byars who were found to be in possession of stolen packages taken from the front porch areas of four separate residences in Walnut Creek and unincorporated Walnut Creek. Both were also in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Lancaster and Byars where both arrested for possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Originally based in Burlingame, Natasha Grasso Jewelry has relocated to the Rheem Valley Shopping Center in Moraga. Although the signage is not up yet this is a permanent location, not a popup. You can find their jewelry at places such as the Getty Museum, California Academy of Sciences, and One Kings Lane. Check out their Facebook page here.
From their website:
Designer Natasha Grasso created her first collection in early 2009 when she was unsuccessful in finding affordable, classic pieces that would enhance her fine jewelry collection and add style to her wardrobe.
” I wanted pieces that would reflect my sense of style without being too trendy, a collection that would go from the office to jeans and a tee and could even hold it’s own in a ball gown!”
As a successful interior designer Natasha used her design skills, took a metalsmithing class and created the first collection of Natasha Grasso Jewelry. What started as a hobby is now a thriving design and manufacturing company. Natasha’s designs are influenced by her extensive travels, and love of art, fashion and design.

I wonder what’s going to happen to Rinehart’s Gelato Clock…
3737 Valley Vista Rd, Walnut Creek
In September we learned that Valley Vista Tennis Club was slated to close by January and now word on the street is that they are being bought by Carondelet, an all-girls private Catholic high school in Concord which is currently doing due diligence. It looks like the plan is to tear out some tennis courts for a soccer/lacrosse field and possibly allow Valley Vista club members use of the courts during non-school hours.
Considering the club is not being sold to housing developers this looks like a positive development for members assuming they are allowed to use the courts, however, what will this mean for USTA players who are unable to use the overcrowded Heather Farm tennis courts?
