The L.A. street food restaurant 310 Eatery which opened in Walnut Creek earlier this year (and recently relocated within Redux Lounge on Locust St) is looking to expand to Solano Avenue in Albany very soon. Although they started in Walnut Creek, the owner began his restaurant experience in Albany so this will be like a homecoming for them.
They are known for their 405 Traffic Jam Burger and over the weekend I tried their Little Tokyo Po’boy softshell crab sandwich with a fried egg, tomato, homemade spicy slaw and homemade Unagi aioli on a brioche bun and it was delicious! Check out their Facebook page here for updates.

Despite all the construction going on at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek the Christmas has gone up at the fountain. Remember that the new South Broadway parking garage opened last weekend and there will be Black Friday giveaways and offers this Friday.

Although there have been recent RadioShack closings in the area, the downtown Lafayette RadioShack is going to become a new concept store after temporarily closing for a remodel in February. I wonder how this will turn out?

Friday, November 28th, 2014 – Sunday, January 4th, 2015The 14th Annual Holiday Train Show at The Blackhawk Museum in Danville showcases the efforts of the Bay Area Chapter of the European Train Enthusiasts (ETE). Open from Friday November 28, through Sunday January 4th, this spectacular exhibit is a holiday MUST SEE for the entire family.
For over 23 years members of ETE have been constructing and operating a portable HO scale model railway showcasing scenes of Europe. Each of the many layout sections is expertly crafted by different members of the group. When combined they form a showplace for a fascinating and detailed miniature European journey.

Last month we learned that Learning Express Toys would be opening in downtown Lafayette on Mt. Diablo Blvd. and they are now open. It’s been over two years since Lafayette has had a toy store so this is good news especially with the holidays around the corner.
From their website:
Learning Express Toys of Lafayette will set itself apart from the “big-box” toy stores with educational toys, gifts, and exclusive products—all of which inspire imagination, creativity, and intellectual and physical development. Learning Express Toys provides customized services such as free gift wrapping, complimentary personalization of a variety of items, and an exceptional “birthday box” gift registry.
I stopped by and thought the selection was great; very interesting stuff that I haven’t seen elsewhere at various price points which I appreciated. I’ll definitely be back!

Broadway Plaza South Broadway Parking Garage, Walnut Creek
The new Broadway Plaza South Broadway Parking Garage opened over the weekend in downtown Walnut Creek. Considering how hard it is to find parking downtown this opened just in time. This garage has four levels, three above-ground and one below for a total of 2,500 spots. Unfortunately the Macy’s parking garage next to this garage will be closing in January according to this Contra Costa Times article.
Lately I’m finding it extremely difficult to find free parking downtown so I’ve been venturing further away where there is free street parking available within a five minute walk downtown. I hope nobody finds out about this area. 🙂
