Shelby Sexton Salon in downtown Lafayette is moving from their location in La Fiesta Square to 999 Oakhill Rd, also in Lafayette. The La Fiesta Square will be replaced by a new salon called Caroline’s Salon beginning this Friday, November 1st. Stay tuned for more details…

Last week I posted a preview of an eclectic new bike store called Rivendell Bike, Book & Hatchet and they are now open on N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek. In addition to bikes they sell books, hatchets, clothing and various accessories such as pinetar soap, bamboo banks and more. You’ll just have to drop by and check it out for yourself. It’s quite cool.
I don’t know much about bicycles but they look amazing. Take a look at one of their models in the photo below.

The luxury British fashion store Burberry is closing its doors permanently in Broadway Plaza. Unlike other stores that are temporarily relocating within Broadway Plaza or elsewhere in downtown Walnut Creek, Burberry won’t be back according to an employee I spoke with.

The Lafayette Youth Commission has created a haunted house every year since 2004. Some past themes have included Haunted Castle, Haunted Fairy Tales and last year’s Haunted Camp Ground. Come trick or treat through the Haunted Hotel and meet witches, clowns and more during the not so scary version of the house for ages 7 and under and their parents. Looking for something more frightening? Come to the Haunted Hotel during the very scary portion where zombies roam the rooms and halls looking their next victims! The very scary version of the Haunted Hotel is appropriate for the very brave ages 8 & up. The Haunted Hotel will be touring visitors on Friday, October 25th and Sunday, October 27th at the Lafayette Community Center at 500 St. Mary’s Rd. The not-so-scary version of the Haunted Hotel will be from 5:00-7:00pm and the very scary version will be from 7:30-9:30pm. Cost for ages 7 and under is $3 and ages 8 and over is $5. All proceeds are donated to various causes supported by the Lafayette Youth Commission. Past recipients of donations include The American Cancer Society, the Lafayette Library, Stanley Middle School, the Lafayette Community Center Foundation, Child Abuse Prevention and many more.
65 Moraga Way, Orinda
Located next to Peet’s Coffee on Moraga Way in downtown Orinda, the space formerly occupied by Trattoria Lupetti will reopen as FUSCION Restaurant in November 2013 according to a sign above the doorway. The only thing I can find about this restaurant is in the sign itself, “Fine Dining”. Anyone know what kind of restaurant this will be? Thanks to a reader for sending in this tip.
1403 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
Back in April I noted that the baby store Day One was closing at the corner of N. Main St. and Cypress St. in downtown Walnut Creek and now the men’s clothing store Jos. A. Bank will be opening in this location according to a city planner I spoke with. Currently downtown Walnut Creek has four men’s clothing stores: Men’s Wearhouse, Atlas, Pelican Rock, and Daskalos in Broadway Plaza.

Eastbound Camino Pablo in Orinda, under the BART/Hwy 24 overpass is closed due to fire at BART station. Motorists are asked to avoid the area. The road is anticipated to be closed until 10 pm.
