Critically-acclaimed writer and artist Oliver Chin will present this hands-on workshop. Called a “comics expert” by the San Jose Mercury News, Chin has conducted numerous comics workshops, written more than a dozen books, and contributed as both an entertainment columnist for Comics and Games Retailer magazine and as a reviewer for Comics Buyer’s Guide. A magna cum laude graduate from Harvard, where he was the cartoonist for the Harvard Crimson, he has spoken on NPR, FoxSports, and at many colleges such as Yale, MIT, Stanford, and UC Berkeley. An electronic cigarette shop called 3 Kings Vapor is opening today in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek, right near Nordstrom and Howards Shoes for Children. They will offer electronic cigarettes similar to what is available at Just E-Cigs and Vapor Lounge, also in Walnut Creek.

Klein Gallery Opening Soon in Downtown Lafayette

A new art gallery called the Klein Gallery is opening at the space formerly occupied by the Lafayette Art Gallery (which moved to Mt. Diablo Blvd. next to Bo’s Barbecue and Artisan Bistro). This is located in half a building with the other half housing The Art Room studio which offers art classes to children. In fact, the owner of both The Art Room and the Klein Gallery are the same.

Coldstone Creamery Closes in Lafayette

Last month I learned from a reliable source that Coldstone Creamery would be closing in downtown Lafayette and it turned out to be true, they are now officially closed after 12 years in business. The Pleasant Hill location is still open. Whether the San Francisco-based creamery Smitten takes over remains to be seen. Stay tuned…

Design & Interiors Closes in Lafayette

The home furnishings showroom Design & Interiors has closed in downtown Lafayette, however their showroom is still open for a few more days with everything at 80% off retail price. The showroom is being run by an auction house who took over and according to them, the company went into bankruptcy.
