On the above date and time, an astute employee of the Holiday Inn called WCPD to report seeing two male subjects with flashlights looking into vehicles in the parking lot. The subjects left the area on foot and were spotted by WCPD officers who arrived in a matter of seconds. One of the subjects (Martinez) was detained without incident. The other subject (male juvenile) ran from officers and jumped two barbed wire fences into a nearby business. A perimeter was immediately set up by officers and the male juvenile subject was located hiding underneath a storage area by a police K9.
Martinez and the male juvenile were both found to be in possession of stolen property and burglary tools. Martinez was booked at the county jail in Martinez and the male juvenile was booked at the juvenile hall in Martinez for a variety of charges (see above).
A total of two vehicles were located at the Holiday Inn that had been broken into. Property from those two vehicles was located by officers and returned to their owners. It is unknown if the suspects committed other thefts/burglaries prior to being seen, so residents in the area are encouraged to call WCPD, should they find their cars broken into. Reports can be made by calling WCPD at (925) 943-5844.

Eduardo Diaz Martinez, Hispanic male, 19 years old, last known address in Concord.
Hispanic male juvenile (name not released), 17 years old, last known address in Concord.
Well, that was fast. Brighton Collectibles has reopened in their prime Broadway Plaza spot after a short remodel. Back in August they temporarily relocated to the backside of Broadway Plaza which is now vacant again.
5th Avenue, Manhattan Tiffany door
Check out the door of the New York Tiffany’s location on 5th Avenue in Manhattan. Note the anti-ram barrier pole right in front. Considering what happened to the Walnut Creek Tiffany’s back in August I wonder if crashing through the front door has become a popular way to rob high-end jewelry stores? I wouldn’t be surprised if the Walnut Creek Tiffany’s gets one of these anti-ram barriers in the near future. Then again, it’s far smaller than the 5th Avenue location so maybe it’s not necessary.

A few weeks ago I noted that Kaffa Cafe in downtown Walnut Creek had changed names and now the new signage is up. Looks great.
The Liberty Bell Plaza kiosks that opened last year in downtown Walnut Creek don’t seem to be looking so good as I dropped by yesterday and noticed every single one of them was closed. On a sunny Sunday afternoon. Is it over or will they reopen as Christmas approaches? Stay tuned…

The action starts when he befriends some blokes by the name of John, Paul, George and Ringo and becomes their lifelong friend sharing the vinyl that will start a revolution.
From then on, it’s a rocket ride from the Beatles earliest days in Liverpool to six shows a night in Hamburg to the Cavern Club and to full-fledged Beatlemania.

The historic Danville Hotel, Restaurant and Saloon on Hartz Ave. in downtown Danville is getting redeveloped and “replaced with approximately 35,000 square feet of new residential, retail and restaurant uses” according to the Town of Danville website:
The historic Danville Hotel structure and the McCauley House on Hartz Avenue will both be retained and renovated. Existing uses on the remainder of the 1.12 acre site will be replaced with approximately 35,000 square feet of new residential, retail and restaurant uses. The project will include 16 for-sale second story residential units, averaging 1,200 square feet in size.
Castle Companies, the current co-owner of the property, will be preparing more detailed project drawings for Design Review Board review over the next several months. This effort will be followed up by preparation of building and site improvement drawings for the planned construction in 2012.
