Last August we learned that Talbots was closing at Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek, and with it, plans to relocate to the old Uniqlo space, but it looks like they’ll be opening in this spot after all. Thanks to a reader for pointing this out. Check out their online selection here.

Thanks to a reader for sending word (and photo) that the restaurant Frickin Fried is coming to El Monte Shopping Center in Concord where Mt. Froyo used to be.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
A year and a half ago we learned that the clothing store Marine Layer would be coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek, and the “coming soon” signage is now up next to Amazon and Peloton. Check out their online selection here and find out more about their story here.

Yesterday the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people can go maskless in most situations both outdoors AND indoors. I don’t believe state and local guidelines allow for going maskless indoors in public generally, but do you plan on going maskless outside if you’re vaccinated? When I stroll downtown I generally see many people wearing masks on the street, but I have a feeling I’ll be seeing a lot more maskless people outside very soon.

Lafayette Clocktower

Men’s Wearhouse has temporarily relocated within Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek to a prime spot where where Forever 21 used to be, while they remodel their existing store. Check out their online shop here.

This week we learned that the ice cream shop Salt & Straw opened recently in San Ramon and Third Culture Bakery and their Mochi Muffins are coming soon to downtown Walnut Creek. I also, just so happened to enjoy a Republic of Cake cupcake from Orinda this week as well, which got me thinking, what is my favorite dessert? Especially as we approach summer, I have to answer “ice cream”. Or “milkshake”. To feel less guilty, maybe “egg cream soda”. As long as there is chocolate. That’s non-negotiable.

100 Railroad Ave, Danville
Sliver Pizzeria, with locations in Berkeley and Oakland, is coming to Danville where Coffee Shop used to be. According to their FAQ, they only have one type of pizza per day in order to keep the, “pizza ingredients ultra fresh, and keep your time in line to an absolute minimum”. Check out their menu here.
