What a strange pairing having Nordtrom’s e Bar cafe a few steps away from an eyebrow waxing store called the i Bar at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek. I can just imagine the misunderstandings taking place at this very moment. Anyone else find this amusing?
Va de Vi, located at 1511 Mount Diablo Blvd. next to Tiffany’s in downtown Walnut Creek, specializes in Californian, Asian and Tapas-style cuisine with a nice wine selection and offers outdoor seating. Named to the SF Chronicle’s Top 100 Bay Area restaurants 7 years running, Va de Vi is one of Walnut Creek’s finest restaurants, albeit pricey. Any recommended dishes?
The grand opening for Nothing Bundt Cakes has been pushed back to Feb. 1, although they expect to open on Jan. 20th for those who just can’t wait. Previously it was reported that they would be opening on Jan. 10.
Check out the broken window at Thirteen Salon located on Locust St. next to Mr Lucky’s Bar & Grill. Scuttlebutt going around is that a patron there may have kicked it in one night. As of today the window has been replaced, although it’s just another in a long list of incidents involving bars and nightclubs in downtown Walnut Creek. Since this isn’t confirmed maybe it was just a freak accident?
Not as cool as the other Sasa door of the day, this one is at the front entrance to Sasa Restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek. The “S”-shaped door handle is a nice touch.
The green fencing has finally come out at the future Anthropologie store at the corner of Locust St. and Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Walnut Creek. As you can see all the windows have been removed. I look forward to seeing what it will look like when it’s finished. As noted previously, it’s scheduled for completion sometime in 2012.
Down Family Lane, located at the backside of Broadway Plaza across from U Threads has closed its doors around Christmas time Beyond the Creek has learned. For any fans out there not to worry as they will still be available online.
Quick note, a Coming Soon directory of stores and restaurants opening soon in Walnut Creek and nearby areas is now available on the right side of this blog. If anyone knows of anything new opening up please leave a comment or shoot me an email to tips@beyondthecreek.com thanks.
