Every now and then I see the Fountainhead sudsed up in downtown Walnut Creek.
1366 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
Over three years ago the online thrift store ThredUp opened at Broadway Pointe in downtown Walnut Creek. Less than a year later, they relocated a few blocks away to a smaller spot on N. Main. As you can see from the lease sign in the above photo, they have permanently closed. Their online shop remains open here.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
In August, we learned that Neiman Marcus, which opened to much fanfare over eight years ago at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek, was expected to close, and that time has come as they are now permanently closed. I’m going to miss those popovers but their San Francisco and Palo Alto locations remain open as noted in the sign below.

With a new year, comes new, new year’s resolutions. Although I didn’t plan on working out more as a new year’s resolution, I am enjoying plenty of working out using Apple Fitness+. What are your new year’s resolutions?
At the Broadway Plaza escalators in Walnut Creek are signs that say, “WAIT FOR SHOPPERS TO PASS THE BLUE LINE”. I must be missing something completely obvious because I don’t get it. How does waiting for people to pass the blue line help, considering there is no other line to wait from?
1389 N. Broadway, Walnut Creek
XYZ Matrix Smoke & Skate Shop opened recently in downtown Walnut Creek where Broadway Eyeworks used to be. Check out their Insta here.
Park Plaza Shops, Lafayette
Joe & the Juice, which opened a couple of summers ago at Park Plaza Shops in Lafayette, has closed. The inside looks like it was just abandoned but the Available sign in front shows it’s gone for good.
1403 Locust St, Walnut Creek
A new restaurant called Ostro is coming to downtown Walnut Creek where Stelle Bistro used to be (over 6 years ago!). Stay tuned…
