Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, has recently been on a banning spree which is ironic considering his “free speech” pivot allowing back formerly banned accounts. Banning so many accounts that are critical of him is clearly undermining the integrity and authenticity of the platform. Twitter has historically been a place for people to freely express their opinions and engage in debate, but if certain voices are silenced or censored, it could create a homogenous and unbalanced conversation. Additionally, the banning of accounts that are critical of the Elon Musk is a violation of the principles of free speech and a fair exchange of ideas.
Is Elon Musk destroying Twitter? If so, is he doing so on purpose for financial reasons? Or has success in his other companies turned him into a megalomaniac that’s clouding his judgment?
Just in case, I created a Mastodon account here. I’m not sure how to auto-post from this blog yet but am looking into it.
