I work from home but recently I’ve been driving or taking BART to San Francisco and other cities through the tunnel and can’t believe the traffic coming east bound in the afternoon. It really crawls even with the fourth bore. Where do you work? Is traffic or public transit becoming worse these days or is this typical?
This week we learned that after being in downtown Walnut Creek for over 20 years, Lark Creek closed for good. That got me thinking about the old-school restaurants in the area. Downtown Walnut Creek still has Prima, Lafayette has Postino. I asked this question over five years ago but I think it’s appropriate to ask again; what’s your favorite old-school restaurant?
This week we learned about a handcrafted American-made goods shop opening in Broadway Plaza called Makers Market. That has me wondering what people make around here as a side business or hobby. I recently signed up at a makerspace called Techshop in San Francisco and have been busy learning and using laser cutters, 3D printers, wood and metal working machines and even welding. What do you make?

As I walk around neighborhoods I notice more and more houses, buildings, schools etc have solar panels appearing on roofs. Seems like a good match for the great California sunshine we get as long it’s not shady. Do you have or are planning to get solar panels for your home? If you have solar panels would you do anything differently?
With the weather hitting the 90s recently and I find myself getting uncomfortably hot and dehydrated my thoughts turn to finding a cool drink, shade or AC to cool off. What’s your favorite way to keep cool during summer?
With summer in full bloom now is the time to take vacations. Where is your “go-to” vacation spot? Is it somewhere quiet such as a a state or national park, somewhere exotic like a foreign country, or somewhere else?
I love going out to eat at restaurants but sometimes a nice home-cooked meal can’t be beat. I enjoy eating lasagna or even a simple bowl of natto over rice. What is your favorite home-cooked meal?
With lazy days of summer approaching, vacations sans internet, what books do you want to get to this summer? I’m looking forward to American Kingpin by Nick Bilton and The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherje. Anything else to consider?

Earlier this week we learned about a sexual assault that took place inside an Uber car during a dropoff in Moraga. Last year I asked about whether anyone used ride hailing services but didn’t even mention the potential to be assaulted. Is riding Uber potentially more dangerous than a taxi? Will you continue using Uber or do you have second thoughts?
It seems like every other week a new pizzeria or burger joint opens up somewhere in the East Bay. Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE pizza and burgers. But there are times I’d like to try something new and interesting. Like a Singaporean dish at the new STIX Eatery opening soon in Concord. Which cuisine do you feel is the most underrated/underappreciated that people should try?
