This week we learned that a new Thai restaurant, Vanda Thai opened in downtown Walnut Creek. Since people have been asking, what is your favorite Thai restaurant? What is your favorite Thai dish? I like Mee Krob.

With word that Coffee Shop has opened in downtown Walnut Creek this week, I’ve been wondering how many people are partial to coffee and how many prefer tea. My routine is black tea in the morning, green tea at lunch and herbal tea after dinner. I do look forward to trying coffee at the Coffee Shop though. What do you prefer? What brand is your favorite?
Around the Bay Area there are basically two options for online access: cable or DSL. I’ve stuck with AT&T DSL for years and am getting increasingly agitated at the spotty connection speeds. Most of the time it’s fine but sometimes as I watch a video I find it will half-load and drop out. Frustrating!
Is anyone happy with their cable/DSL provider? Please tell us your provider, speed, and location for perspective. Should I switch to Comcast? (The image above is the fastest DSL service AT&T offers in my area. A sad 6 Mbps download speed.) 🙁
This week we learned that the Cajun restaurant Rockin Crawfish opened in Concord. It’s been quite a long time since I’ve tried Cajun food and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I’m curious what your favorite ethnic restaurant is?
With news that Walnut Creek has lost TheBEND food truck market people have been wondering what would be a good location for a new food truck market. One suggestion was the, “big open parking area in front of CVS at the corner of California and Olympic”. What about Cypress St. where Walnut Creek Wednesdays are held? What other locations are out there for a food truck market?
This week we learned about new condos going up in Lafayette; plenty more new construction of houses, condos and rental apartments are going up in the East Bay as well. Right now, considering the housing and rental markets, is it a better time to rent or buy?
I’ve been following the progress of the Old Yellow House in Orinda for a while; Last night there was a talk about the house by the owner who refurbished it in an environmentally friendly way. I enjoy visiting the Shadeland Ranch Museum in Walnut Creek (see above photo) which features various historical artifacts. What other historical places are there to visit in the East Bay? Which one is your favorite?

This week we learned that yet another pizza restaurant, Boca Pizzeria, would be opening in downtown Walnut Creek and a commenter suggested a reader poll about what restaurant/bar/cafe etc. you would like to see in downtown Walnut Creek.
I am so hoping someone realizes that what WC needs is not another version of something that already exists once (or twice or three times) already, but something else. Something that won’t disappear when trends change in a year or two. I would love to see a proper Irish pub, where folks can hang out, eat, drink, maybe listen to some live music, and generally stop stressin’ about the world.
If you had your pick what you most like to see? An Irish pub? Burmese restaurant? Tea house?
Last week I passed by the Hot Dog Palace across from Todos Santos Plaza in Concord which reminded me of last week’s sign of the day and now I have an urge to eat a great hot dog. What’s your favorite hot dog or sausage place?

With news that marijuana has been legalized in Alaska recently (it’s already legal in Colorado and Washington) I’m wondering how many people believe that marijuana should be legalized in California.
