With a new year, comes new, new year’s resolutions. Although I didn’t plan on working out more as a new year’s resolution, I am enjoying plenty of working out using Apple Fitness+. What are your new year’s resolutions?
Back in April, I predicted a battle where restaurant patios packed with people during the Coronavirus pandemic would go up against rules explicitly banning outside dining. Now that Contra Costa is back in the purple, “widespread” tier, the battle has begun as some restaurants rebel against these orders. According to this NBC Bay Area news article, some restaurant owners, such as Kick N Mule in Danville, are continuing to allow outdoor dining on their patios.
Should restaurants be allowed to offer their patios and outdoor dining areas for eating?
After many months of East Bay schools keeping children home to deal with remote learning, they’ve decided that now, with about 200,000 new daily cases and more people who’ve died in a day than who perished on 911, would be a good time to convince parents to send their children back to school once back in the Red Tier. That’s funny, because when I think of RED, I don’t think safety. Red means stop, red means danger.
And once children are back in school, they’ll get to enjoy school life wearing masks all the time, physically separated from their classmates, eating cold lunches in the chilly outdoors with no bus ride home. Sounds like a real blast to me.
Do you plan on sending your children back to school in January when we’re back in the “safe” red tier?

This week according to Contra Costa Health Services, the, “adjusted average daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Contra Costa has doubled in recent weeks, rising from 4.3 per 100,000 population on Oct. 16 to 9.2 on Nov. 16.” Contra Costa is now back in the red tier which has led to limits on indoor activities such as movie theaters, museums and other activities.
Given the degrading circumstances, are you planning on celebrating Thanksgiving with non-household family and/or friends next week?

The presidential election wrapped up on Tuesday but unbelievably they’re still counting ballots due to Covid-19 with all those mail-in ballots. I’m checking news sites way too often and watching the news as well. How are often are you checking the electoral map updates?

Considering that the United States does not offer a ranked voting system in presidential elections, should people be voting for third party presidential candidates that have no chance to be elected? Considering how close the previous election turned out, with celebrities like Susan Sarandon voting for Jill Stein in 2016, and Kanye West on this year’s ballot, is a vote for a third party candidate the same as not voting at all?

When I was younger, I always looked forward to reading the newspaper comics, especially the full page, color, Sunday comics. The Far Side was one of my favorites. With the presidential election almost two weeks away, millions of votes have already been cast. Last night there were separate presidential candidate town halls and I really can’t imagine the choice being any clearer one way or another. A family member mentioned a friend who was undecided, and when I heard their reasoning, I was frankly shocked. Are you still undecided or know anyone who is undecided? What reasoning do they give?

This week the first presidential debate took place and it was quite a scene. Do you plan on watching the vice presidential debate next Wednesday and the following two presidential debates? If so, are you watching to learn more about their campaigns or for entertainment?
