Farm Creek Brewing Company Opens in Walnut Creek

It’s been a long time coming but the Walnut Creek brewery Farm Creek Brewing Company finally opened over the weekend. An American lager, pale ale and amber ale are currently available including a 32 ounce take home crowler can. (Check the photos after the jump for the crowler-making process). The amber ale “Favorite Daughter” I tried has a bold yet smooth flavor that tasted amazing. The inside has various seating and standing areas including a couple of rocking chairs which is a nice touch. Check for updates on their Facebook page here and their website here.

Five Guys Opening Next Week in Alamo Plaza Shopping Center

Genuine Goodness Opens in Orinda

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that a new cafe called Genuine Goodness, featuring baked goods, salads, soups and smoothies opened this week in Orinda where Village Pizza is located across from the Orinda library. The owners of the cafe previously used a commercial kitchen in Lafayette making food and smoothies for local Lamorinda schools. They will still make food and smoothies for schools but now have a space of their own to showcase their dishes. The gingerbread cake with lemon icing and apricot bars (see photos after the jump) were delicious! Check out their smoothies here. Redux Lounge Alcohol License Suspended Indefinitely in Downtown Walnut Creek

Walked by Redux Lounge over the weekend in downtown Walnut Creek and noticed a sign in the window indicating that their alcohol beverage license has been suspended indefinitely. Records show they were suspended back in 2010 and 2009. Anyone know what happened?

Andy Sushi Opening Soon in Downtown Walnut Creek

A few years ago we learned that Hiro Sushi opened in downtown Walnut Creek where C U Sushi used to be and according to a public notice a new sushi joint called Andy Sushi will be taking over. As you can see it has been painted red and according to this Craigslist post, they are planning to open, “late August/early September” and are hiring.

A new ice cream spot featuring healthy and organic options called BlooGrape Organic Sworls is coming to Hartz Ave. in Danville. According to their website, you can choose a base from ice cream, yogurt, coconut milk, or fruit mix, along with a flavor, toppings and a “drizzle”.

Homegrown Sustainable Sandwiches Coming to Lafayette Mercantile

The La Boulange Cafes closed in Walnut Creek and Lafayette last September and we learned a while back that Lemonade will be opening this fall in the Walnut Creek location. We now know that Homegrown Sustainable Sandwiches will be taking over the Lafayette location on Mt. Diablo Blvd. Check out their Seattle menu here.
