Last April, we learned that Indonesian-California fusion restaurant SanDai Nusantara Californian and Kopi Bar (Café) would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek where PRIMA Ristorante used to be and they have now opened. Crumbl Cookies opened late last year at Rossmoor Town Center in Walnut Creek. Check out their online selection here and Walnut Creek page here. I read an article in the NY Times about Crumbl recently and wonder if these cookies are worth it?

The Library Social Club, under the same ownership as The Hideout Kitchen in Lafayette, opened recently in downtown Walnut Creek where Guava Island Eats used to be.
From their website:
Set in Walnut Creek’s busy downtown, The Library provides a unique experience unlike any other wine club with its repurposed vintage decor, value conscious price points and a sincere experience.
The Library offers a blend of esoteric and classic wines, local brews and small bites, and is open to the public but offers exclusive membership packages with many perks.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Bonehead’s Texas BBQ, which opened in Lafayette back in 2015, was sold to All the Smoke BBQ. With the tagline, “All the Smoke Ain’t No Joke”, you can bet your brisket that I’m fired up to give this joint a try!
Orinda Theatre Square
Last year, we learned that Comelones Tacos would be coming to Orinda Theatre Square, and they have now opened. Check for updates on their Facebook page here.
Gateway Centre, San Ramon
Bober Tea & Coffee + Mochi Dough opened recently at Gateway Centre in San Ramon. Bober Tea opened a little over a year ago at Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek and I don’t recall mochi donuts being available there at the time so this must be something new? Check out the San Ramon menu here. Alas, I don’t see mochi donuts listed on their online menu either.

Last month, we learned that Boba Studio would be opening April 14th in downtown Walnut Creek, and they have now soft opened. I tried the Tropical Fruit Tea, organic jasmine tea with homemade pineapple puree and passion fruit seeds and fruit chunks and it was very tasty. In addition to boba drinks, they also offer cookies, biscuits and tuiles (baked wafers). Check out their menu here.
From their website:
Selina was born in a traditional family with a generation of boba-tea making history in Taiwan. Selina immigrated to the US in her late twenties and finished her education at UC Berkeley. After more than a decade of rearing her two American-born children, Selina decided to bring her family’s boba-tea-making art to her new homeland.
