Thanks to everyone who sent in word that the Italian-Peruvian fusion restaurant Stelle Bistro has closed. Diablo Dish also reported that they “appeared” to have gone out of business. Although the inside shows the table settings still set, the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate sign in front is the most public indication that they really have closed for good.

Noah’s Bagels is coming to downtown Walnut Creek where Blockbuster Video used to be on Mt. Diablo Blvd. They also have a location in the Countrywood Shopping Center at the corner of Bancroft Rd. and Treat Blvd. and another location in Lafayette. Check out their bagel selection here and lunch menu here.

Last month I noted that the Brewing Network-owned The Hop Grenade Taproom & Bottleshop would be opening in June and now Diablo Dish is reporting that they may be opening this Sunday. Check their Facebook page for updates. Check out their bar menu here.
Last week I noted the progress being made to the inside of Coffee Bean & Tea leaf’s Walnut Creek location in the Sprouts Shopping Center and thanks to a reader for pointing out that the signage went up the next day! It can’t be long now… Of course then there’s the question of parking. Yikes.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that The Salad Spot has closed in Walnut Creek near the Pleasant Hill BART station. Previously in December I noted that The Salad Spot initially opened.

Last month Korean Bulgogi House closed in downtown Concord and a new restaurant called Wild Ox featuring hamburgers and sandwiches is expected to open mid-July. This is a block from Todos Santos Plaza across from Naan N Curry.
Back in January I noted that construction on Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf had begun in the Sprouts Shopping Center located on Geary Rd. and N. Main St. in Walnut Creek and judging by the inside it’s getting much closer to opening now. This place has been empty for a really long time so it’s good to see significant progress being made on the inside. Stay tuned…

A couple of weeks ago I noted that a new shaved snow and flavored drink shop called Ice Monster would be opening in the Nob Hill shopping center in Walnut Creek and they have now opened. Their featured offering is called shaved snow (see photo after the jump) and they also offer regular Dreyer’s ice cream as well as flavored iced tea, iced milk tea, milk shakes and smoothies.
I tried the taro flavored shaved snow with lychee jelly, m&ms, and chocolate syrup. I’m not sure how they make the shaved snow but according to a person working there they use less dairy, and no heavy cream from a recipe that comes from Taiwan where this type of ice cream is quite popular. Note that contrary to what I imagined this isn’t shaved ice with syrup aka snow cones that I loved as a kid. You may notice the $7.50 cost of a shaved snow; this is plenty for two people. They are considering adding a smaller size as well.

Last month I noted that construction had begun on Veggie Grill in downtown Walnut Creek where the post office used to be on Locust St. and if you look in front you might not realize that it’s completely gutted and doesn’t even have a roof! The photo above is the view from the backside towards Locust St.
