WHY is Tender Greens doing this? Because Sean Eastwood loves teaching and sharing the joy of food and cooking. Tender Greens wants want to give their guests a fun way to try different things at the farmer’s market that they might not get on their own, taste the different and get a chef’s perspective of the farmer’s market. There are so many different flavors and varieties of stone fruit, heirloom tomatoes, melons and berries but most people are only familiar with a few of them. They want to encourage people to enjoy and explore everything that the farmer’s market has to offer and teach them how to cook in interesting new ways.

1320 Locust St, Walnut Creek

Back in January I noted that Southern California based Veggie Grill would be opening a new location in downtown Walnut Creek on Locust St. next to Anthropologie and Tender Greens and construction has now begun. Back then I pointed out that the small Nail Shop location was not included in the plans which I found strange but that has changed as the walls are gone so there will be more space available for seating which is great. Check out the Veggie Grill menu here.

1388 Locust St, Walnut Creek

Sunol Ridge Restaurant and Bar in downtown Walnut Creek plan on opening by the end of May according to a comment on their Facebook page. I suspect this may be a soft opening with a full opening in June. Check out their beer menu here, wine menu here.

1276 S. California Blvd, Walnut Creek

Diablo Dish recently reported that a pizzeria called Project Pie is opening this July where AAA used to be at the corner of S. California Dr. and Botelho Dr. in downtown Walnut Creek. Check out their menu here. What I find interesting is that the founder of Project Pie is also the founder of Pieology opening in Pleasant Hill.

2001 North Main St, Suite 150, Walnut Creek

Thanks to a reader for sending word that A Sweet Affair Bakery & Cafe has opened a new outpost in Walnut Creek in the Ygnacio Center next to Fidelity. They also have a location in the Ygnacio Valley Shopping Center and on Hartz Ave. in Danville. Check out their sandwiches here and baked goods here.
