These great chairs were spotted in the patio area at MexCal in Danville. (I posted about their new Orinda location last month).

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Gotta Eatta Pita has been open since last month on Hartz Ave in Danville. Check out their menu here. They are open 11am – 8pm every day and offer freshly baked pita, salads, chicken dishes and more. What’s your favorite dish?

Back in October I noted that a new cafe focusing on South American cuisine called Cafecitos Cafe opened in downtown Walnut Creek, but that didn’t last long as their doors were locked shortly after. However a public notice to sell alcoholic beverages indicates that it will reopen with the same name. I wonder what else will change.
531 Hartz Ave, Danville
Back in October I noted that China Paradise closed on Hartz Ave. in downtown Danville with a new restaurant called Yo’s on Hartz to open in its place and according to the owner they plan on opening by the end of the month and serve fusion style Asian food. More info at Diablo Dish.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Açaí-Me Superfoods Café recently had a soft-opening in the Danville Livery in downtown Danville with the grand opening scheduled for March. Check out their menu here. I tried the Monkey Bowl and thought it was great. One difference I noticed compared to Vitality Bowls is they blend the acai with kale and flax. Check out a photo of the inside below. There is also a TV in the corner of the store.

Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, located next to Macy’s in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek has closed. Luckily La Boulange Bakery is right around the corner.

Back in October I noted that the Indian gastropub Kanishka’s would be opening in downtown Walnut Creek and they are now expected to open by the end of January. According to the owner there will be a limited, pre-opening special event that you can sign up for on their Facebook page to have a chance to try their, “Neo-Indian small plates w/East India influences w/ a niche wine & beer”. Stay tuned…
Locust St, Walnut Creek
Back in November I noted that southern California-based Veggie Grill may be opening in downtown Walnut Creek and it looks like this is definitely happening based on a public notice posted in the window and the site plan which you can see below. Note how the space previously occupied by the Nail Shop is still available for lease. I would have thought that Veggie Grill would have taken over that as well for more seating but looks like that’s not the case. Check out the Veggie Grill menu here.
