Danville Hotel Town Center
Sonoma-based Basque Boulangerie Café, which opened back in 2015 at historic Danville Hotel on Hartz Ave, has closed. Their Sonoma location remains open.

According to the latest state ABC license, a new restaurant called Avanti is coming to downtown Walnut Creek where City Square / Bierhaus used to be. Based on the provided company information it looks like this may be related to the owners of Melo’s Pizza & Pasta with four locations including Danville and Pleasant Hill. Stay tuned…

La Fiesta Square, Lafayette
Last October, we learned that Mangia Ristorante Pizzeria closed at La Fiesta Square in Lafayette and its replacement, Sliver Pizzeria, has now opened in this spot. Check out the Lafayette menu here. In addition to pizza, they also offer salads, nachos, waffle fries, and more. There is also various beer on tap, wine, margaritas and even fresh gelato. I tried a slice of corn pizza and quite liked it.

De Afghanan “Authentic Kabob House” has triumphantly returned to downtown Walnut Creek, to the very spot where they opened late 2019. Then, in 2021, Onigilly Japanese Kitchen opened in its place, but despite my love of onigiri rice balls, apparently, it wasn’t enough, and they closed rather quickly, which allowed De Afghanan to reopen here. I look forward to trying the kebabs out soon!
