Thanks to a reader for sending word that Pleasant Hill-based Rooted Coffee Company is opening a second location in downtown Walnut Creek where Coffee Shop used to be. Look for a summer opening and check out their menu here.

Burger Loft, which opened a little over a year ago in downtown Walnut Creek, has closed. According to their online menu page, their sister store is Bistro Burger & Grill in Lafayette.

Last week we learned that Coffee Shop closed in downtown Walnut Creek, but it turns out they’re moving to the Mexican restaurant, Maria Maria, a few blocks away. According to this Instagram post, they will be, “joining concepts with [Maria Maria] to become a restaurant in the morning with expanded menu/cocktails and seating.”

Coffee Shop, which opened almost six years ago in downtown Walnut Creek, has closed. According to a sign in their window, their Alamo and Lafayette cafes remain open, and they wrote that, “we are in the process of moving the store to another location in WC”. Their latest Instagram post mentions a beer garden at their Lafayette spot with a link to Lafayette Public House.

1410 N. Main St, Walnut Creek

A new coffee shop called Tellus Coffee is opening this Wednesday in downtown Walnut Creek. I stopped by for the soft opening yesterday and was impressed by both the inside ambiance as well as the Golden Milk Latte made with chai tea and turmeric, and the blueberry scone I tried. The living green and brick walls with plenty of natural light is going to be an amazing place to hang out. Once Covid restrictions are loosened there are plans to serve alcohol. In the meantime, drop by beginning from Wednesday through Sunday from 8am – 3pm and check out their menu here.
