Hartz Cafe opened last spring in Danville but it was closed when I stopped by over the weekend and looked pretty empty inside. I also noticed a realtor lock box on the door handle. Anyone know what’s going on over there?

Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
It’s only been a couple of years since San Ramon-based Fat Maddie’s opened in the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center but they have now closed. Their San Ramon and Danville locations remain open. Thanks to a reader for emailing about this.
Sprouts Shopping Center, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for sending word that Mo•ni Coffee & Tea opened recently at the Sprouts shopping center in Walnut Creek where The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf used to be. This is the first of a family owned cafe, not a chain and looks really amazing inside. Besides the ambiance, I tried the beet hummus avocado toast (check out the photos after the jump) and it was delicious! I’ll be back for sure (if I can find parking). Check out their menu here.

Rheem Valley Shopping Center, Moraga
New Delhi Bistro opened back in 2012 at the Rheem Valley shopping center in Moraga but it became a vegetarian restaurant, Bagaan, last year. Thanks to a reader for pointing out that it reverted back to New Delhi Bistro but the, “Baagan burger selection is also still available.”
Rossmoor Town Center, Walnut Creek
Burgerim Gourmet Burgers opened recently at Rossmoor Town Center in Walnut Creek. Check out their menu here. Lots of remodeling going on over there including Safeway.
1342 Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Thanks to everyone who emailed about The Broadway Club coming to downtown Walnut Creek where Corners Tavern used to be. Their opening weekend will be on February 21st with Mustache Harbor performing. Check out their show list here.

1550 Olympic Blvd, Walnut Creek
The Korean-Japanese fusion restaurant Koja Kitchen, which opened about three years ago in downtown Walnut Creek, has closed. This is a prime spot in the heart of downtown, across from the movie theater and right near Plaza Escuela and Broadway Plaza.
Thanks to a reader for sending word and photo that Yanni’s Gyros and Burgers closed last Saturday in Concord. According to a sign in the window they plan on “rolling out a food truck in the near future”. Check for updates on their website here.
350 Park St, Moraga
The Rheem Theatre in Moraga reopened last month under new ownership Cinema West with a remodel including luxury stadium seating, a Dolby Atmos sound system and more food options. They now also offer wine and very soon, draft beer sales as well to enjoy while watching a movie.
