Palos Verdes Mall, Walnut Creek
Last year we learned that Kuki’s Ice Cream Cakes closed at the Palos Verdes mall in Walnut Creek with Taqueria La Plaza “coming soon”. As you can see in the above photo the signage is up but no word yet on when they will open.
1516 S. Main St, Walnut Creek
The Pancoast Pizza expansion that we learned would be opening in Walnut Creek last year is now complete and they are open for business with patio seating as you can see from the above photo. Check out their website here.

2905 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for sending word about a new restaurant called Manakish Oven & Grill coming to Walnut Creek at the corner of N. Main St. and Geary Rd. where Bee & Tea used to be. According to Wikipedia manakish is, “a popular Levantine [Eastern Mediterranean] food consisting of dough topped with thyme, cheese, or ground meat. Similar to a pizza, it can be sliced or folded, and it can be served either for breakfast or lunch.” Check out their website here.
Rheem Valley Shopping Center
Thanks to a reader for sending word that Taco Bell has finally opened at the Rheem Valley shopping center in Moraga. When I checked it out both the drive-thru and inside area were quite packed. In addition to the regular counter ordering they also have kiosks where you can order as well which is convenient.
1653 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Walnut Creek
Baygreens Salads, opened since only last December in downtown Walnut Creek has closed. An employee inside told me they were permanently closed which his unfortunate since they had really tasty fresh juice drinks but this is a tough location since it’s recessed into the building making it less visible.
