Pancoast Pizza, which we learned would be expanding last year in Walnut Creek near Las Lomas High School is planning to reopen next month sometime in May. Check out their menu here.
From the owner:
We will have an expanded dining room and outdoor seating, additional menu items such as cheesesteaks, chicken wings, additional chicken options for salads & pizzas, cookies and finally craft tap beer/pitchers and soda. We can now accommodate larger parties at our new 10 foot table made personally by Bob Pancoast.
Lafayette Mercantile
An update from this week’s update about Danville-based Esin coming to the Lafayette Mercantile where Yankee Pier used to be. Although Lamorinda Weekly reported that they “will be opening a second Esin” it turns out that the owners will actually be opening a third concept restaurant (after Esin and Revel) called Social Bird. Stay tuned…
City Center Bishop Ranch, San Ramon
The fast casual restaurant MIXT, featuring salads, grain bowls, plates and sandwiches in a open, light-filled environment, recently soft opened at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon. There will be a grand opening celebration with giveaways this Saturday, April 27th. Check out the San Ramon menu here.
From their website:
Each signature salad is meticulously crafted—developed after months of testing flavor profiles and preparation methods. We spend weeks perfecting our signature salads, not just because we want them to taste great and highlight the season’s best flavors but because a salad is more than just a bunch of ingredients tossed together. It should be a well-balanced nutrient-rich meal that brings a smile to your face.
Lafayette Mercantile
The Danville-based restaurant and bar Esin will be coming to Lafayette where Yankee Pier used to be at the Lafayette Mercantile plaza according to Lamorinda Weekly. Check out a sample lunch menu here and dinner menu here.
From their website:
Curious, adventurous, and caring, the deCarions meticulously oversee each meal for their guests. They are fussy about everything at the restaurant from the pristine dining room to the freshness of each ingredient. The couple also takes extra care to mentor and train their staff. Curtis and Esin attract food-loving servers who instinctively understand guests’ needs. They nurture a spirit of teamwork and independent thinking. And keep a keen eye on the environment by recycling and using many local purveyors.

Last month downtown Walnut Creek had NO Burmese restaurants and by next month there will be two of them as Burma 2 is expected to open next month in May where Siam Fine Thai used to be. The other Burmese restaurant, Burma Unique, opened just this week. Check out their website here. However, I wonder what’s going on in front of the restaurant as that looks like a pretty big hole down there.
1385 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
The boba/poke restaurant T4 & Poke which opened a couple of years ago in downtown Walnut Creek is switching things up as they get rid of the poke and will be known as Amausaan Uji Matcha / Japanese Cuisine & Lounge. The boba drinks will remain as they offer Japanese desserts such as Matcha Mille Crepe. Check out their menu here. As a fan of Japanese desserts I look forward to trying this place out!

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that Burma Unique is having a grand opening tomorrow from 6 – 8pm, April 18th with a “free entree with drink purchase”. Check out their menu here.
Thanks to a reader for pointing out that there was a kitchen/attic fire at the Lafayette restaurant Postino last night. When I dropped by to check it out today the entire area smelled incredibly smoky.
Con Fire remains on scene of restaurant fire in Lafayette tonight. Currently in overhaul, which is expected to last several hours. Fire not suspicious and was limited to kitchen and attic areas, with extensive smoke & water damage throughout. Mt. Diablo open in both directions.
