I’ve had my fair share of boba tea drinks around town, with the little tapioca balls sitting at the bottom waiting to be sucked up so when it came to try a boba drink at the new Chalogy cafe in downtown Walnut Creek I was ready. This time I tried a popping boba drink where the little tapioca balls contain strawberry, lychee or mango flavoring that pops in your mouth. What a great idea! Since I’m not a fan of overly sweet drinks the next time I order I’m planning on ordering a drink with no sweetener other than the popping boba. That should provide just the right amount of sweetness. Have you ever tried a popping boba drink? Where else can you get them?

La Fiesta Square, Lafayette
A new bakery called La Chataigne has opened in La Fiesta Square in Lafayette where Cake used to be. According to Diablo Dish they plan on expanding “the menu to include both modern and traditional pastries.” The French style pastries will continue to be sold at the Martinez farmers market. I tried the morning bun you see below and the orange zest made this a real stand-out. One of the best morning buns I have ever eaten! I look forward to trying other pastries at this bakery. Yum!
