Lesher Center for the Arts
1601 Civic Dr, Walnut Creek
Friday, May 20th – Saturday, June 25th, 2016This Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical takes you back to the times of big bands, with big egos, playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair!
Featuring the hits of bands including Journey, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister and others.
Advisory: Rock of Ages is a hilarious, goofy, exuberant sendup of the 80s rock scene, so it has some of the behavior and references of that era and that scene – There are f-bombs, there is casual drug use, scantily clad women, pole dancing, and some vigorously and ridiculously enacted sexual innuendo – all of which is comic and gleefully immature. The dancing is highly suggestive but nothing you don’t see on MTV (or on the Superbowl halftime show!). I think the best description might be it has a raunchy side. Playfully raunchy but definitely raunchy. Many rate it PG -13, but for some it may be rated M for Mature. I rate it PG-16.
