I was walking by the toy store 5 Little Monkeys in downtown Walnut Creek over the weekend when I spotted this tree surfing swing. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, the Swurfer is on a nationwide tour this summer. I tried the surfing swing and had a blast! If only I had a tree that could handle this. I know one nearby tree that would work well for the Swurfer. Check out their website here.

Last November we learned that Radio Shack closed in downtown Walnut Creek, and now thanks to a reader for sending word that a new girl’s clothing store is opening soon called Un Deux Trois, “a unique shopping experience for girls & tweens”. Despite the French name, it’s based in Los Angeles.

Back in March we learned that a salon would be opening a few stores down from the soon-to-open organic fabric shop Monaluna and indeed, Infinity Salon is moving from their Lafayette location to this downtown Walnut Creek spot. According to the owner, this may possibly the first, “solar panel powered hair salon” in all of California. Look for an early June opening.
215 Alamo Plaza Suite D, Alamo
Poplar Spectacles Optometry opened a few months ago in Alamo Plaza next to Peet’s and Katrina Rozelle. When I stopped by, a woman working there immediately recognized the frames I was wearing which was impressive. I really liked the frames they were displaying. Check out the brands they offer here.
Yesterday we learned that the Acai bowl eatery Vitality Bowls will be opening this month in the Merrill Gardens Senior Housing Complex in downtown Lafayette and apparently the spot next door that has been leased will be a… salon. Stay tuned…
1517 Cypress St, Walnut Creek
Walking by Cypress St. in downtown Walnut Creek I noticed Wax Parlor has relocated next door, where Like New Jewelry used to be before they moved around the corner on N. Main St. A couple of years ago they relocated on the same street which means they have been in three Cypress St. spots!

Back in January we learned that Blue Line Pizza would be coming to Hartz Ave. in Danville and one of the stores it’s replacing, Marley Cabinetry, is reopening in Orinda next to Supercuts.
