Earlier this month we learned that Second to None Consignment shop would be closing early next year in downtown Walnut Creek and someone left a comment on Facebook that Cornucopia Consignments was closing as well in Pleasant Hill.
From their Facebook page:
Cornucopia Consignments will be closed by the end of December.
Beginning in 2015, our building that houses the store will be used instead to provide Cancer Support Community San Francisco Bay Area‘s growing services for cancer patients and their families. When Cornucopia opened, CSC served about 500 people per year. This year, CSC will serve close to 2,000.
We regret that we will need to close Cornucopia, but our stakeholders understand that our highest priority is for CSC to deliver its mission. We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who helped to make Cornucopia “the little house of treasures” — and those who made a lasting difference for so many people facing cancer. And perhaps most importantly, we would like to extend a huge thank you to the volunteers who made Cornucopia such a great place for so many years; and of course the wonderful customers and consignors. Thank you!
Until then, come by for some great sales!
Spotted in front of a couple of stores next to the apartment complex being developed at 1500 N. California Blvd. in downtown Walnut Creek. The sign says “Yes, we are open!! Businesses Open” in front of green fencing blocking almost every angle. There is one tiny entrance on one side of the sidewalk. Whenever I walked past this I feel bad for the stores.

Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Back in October we learned that the the women’s sports clothing store Athleta opened next to Starbucks and the Tesla showroom in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek and a sign inside indicates that they will be relocating within Broadway Plaza next Fall, 2015, presumably in the soon-to-be redeveloped section across the street.
Since the last photos of the Broadway Plaza redevelopment taken early last month the new parking garage opened where this photo of the substantial progress being made was taken. You can see the new white facade of Macy’s at far left and Nordstrom at right.
