1467 Newell Ave, Walnut Creek

A fairly new showroom for active girls called ivivva, owned by lululemon, has opened in Walnut Creek on Newell Ave. (located in the back of the strip mall where Pacific Bay Coffee and George’s Giant Hamburgers are located). They also offer free yoga classes for girls. Check out their schedule here. Check out photos of the inside below.

1531 Locust St, Walnut Creek

Back in September we learned that Orangetheory Fitness would be opening this month in downtown Walnut Creek but there is still construction going on so they now anticipate a February opening. There is still no internal wall separating the other half of the former Manicini’s Sleepworld so looks like there’s quite a lot left to do.

Orangetheory Fitness uses a heart rate monitor to monitor everyone’s progress on screens which sounds interesting. Find out more here. They are still offering a free two week trial before they officially open.

The Second to None Consignment shop in downtown Walnut Creek will be closing after the holidays this month with plans to open in Danville, Alamo or possibly Lafayette in the future. Stay tuned…

Earlier this year we learned that the mail services store Main Street Postal that was in business for over 30 years was sold to a new owner who turned it into a UPS Store. The signage is now up although you can still see the old name in the store window.

Cycle Scape, downtown Walnut Creek’s first indoor cycling gym that we learned would be opening over the summer is now open. Check out their schedule here and pricing here. (When I stopped by there were postcards inside offering a free pass for a class). The cycling area for the 45 minute classes has plenty of Carbon Blue Schwinn stationary bikes and there is a weighted bar you can use to get a complete workout with the instructor at front. On the opposite wall are two giant video screens that show scenery from around the world, music videos, movies etc. The sound system is incredible. There are two private showers and plenty of locker space available. The copper accents inside are gorgeous; check out the photos below to see what I mean.

1537 N. Main St, Walnut Creek

Thanks to a reader for sending word that RadioShack has closed in downtown Walnut Creek on N. Main St. This is not the only one in Walnut Creek that has closed as Claycord reports that the RadioShack in the Encina Grande Shopping Center on Ygnacio Valley Rd. has also closed.

What is the last thing you ever bought at a RadioShack? I bought a stereo cable adapter a few years ago and have checked out the Arduino kits they have but that’s about it.
