A couple of weeks ago we learned that the indoor cycling gym Cycle Scape Fitness would be opening in downtown Walnut Creek this week but according to a comment made by the owner the opening will be delayed until October:
We are very sorry to announce we will [be] delaying our opening into October…we decided to add an additional shower and will need to be approved by the City.
15 Fiesta Ln, Lafayette
Over the weekend the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival took place and the men’s salon 18/8 that we learned would be opening in downtown Lafayette was outside their soon-to-be-open salon introducing themselves to the community. They are planning on opening mid October, possibly on October 11th. According to an 18/8 promotional card this location will offer complimentary beer on tap. Not sure if that’s related to the grand opening but sounds promising… Stay tuned.

Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
It’s tough being a small retailer in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek. Take the fashion accessories boutique Bracchiale for example. They have moved two times within the past year in Broadway Plaza and according to an Eventbrite party, GAP owned Athleta will be opening next to Starbucks in Broadway Plaza on October 20th, which means that Bracchiale will need to look once again for a new location either in downtown Walnut Creek or elsewhere in the bay area.
Back in February I asked about whether people supported the Walnut Creek plastic bag ban ordinance (with slightly more support for the ban) and today is the first day this ordinance will be enforced. Willows Shopping Center, Concord
More progress as the new ULTA Beauty building has been completed with the signage up and according to the Contra Costa Times they expect to open by November in the WIllows Shopping Center in Concord.
1372 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
A new jewelry store called La Femme Jewelry and Gifts has opened on N. Main St. a few doors down from CREAM in downtown Walnut Creek. They feature handmade beaded as well as silver jewelry and gifts. The owner has been selling at art festivals and decided to open her first store right in downtown.

1531 Locust St, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for sending word: A new gym called Orangetheory Fitness will be opening in half of the old Mancini’s Sleepworld location on Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek in mid December/early January. This gym features 60 minute trainer-led interval sessions and incorporates a heart rate monitor to maximize performance and recovery. Find out more about their sessions here. Willows Shopping Center
Just in time for Halloween, Spirit Halloween has opened a new store in the Willows Shopping Center in Concord next to the UFC Gym. This location is much smaller than their other locations and carries mostly costumes rather than decorations.

The children’s consignment store Lemonade Boutique has recently closed in Ygnacio Plaza next to Sports Basement in Walnut Creek.
