Last week I noted that Bracchiale was relocating to the backside of Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and in its place the jeans store True Religion will temporarily relocate there in January as that entire side of Broadway Plaza between Macy’s and Nordstrom gets remodeled. The other side apparently will stay open as stores scramble to find spots elsewhere within Broadway Plaza, downtown Walnut Creek or decide to leave Walnut Creek completely.
A couple of weeks ago I noted that a new e-cig store called 3 Kings would be opening in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and they are now open. So if you need some e-cig e-juice like Outlaw Menthol, Blueberry Sweet Tart and Lizard Milk you should check them out.

Last October I noted that the jewelry and fashion accessories store Bracchiale opened in Broadway Plaza at possibly the best Broadway Plaza location across from Nordstrom, next to Neiman Marcus, but all good things must end as they have been shuffled out to make room for the coming Broadway Plaza renovation. Nearby, The Walking Company is leaving next week, and Cole Haan left last April). However, they won’t be far away as they are moving into a new location at the backside of Broadway Plaza where Brighton Collectibles used to be during their remodel last month.
1601 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
A new showroom featuring bikes, books and hatchets called, appropriately enough, Rivendell Bike, Book & Hatchet is opening on N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek this coming Monday, October 21st. When I first met the owner and he told me the name and what he was planning on selling I thought he was joking, but it’s true; they have been making their own ‘lugged steel bicycle frames’ in Walnut Creek since 1994. In addition to high-end road and touring bikes, they will also feature a custom selection of books (including children’s books), hatchets (for wood chopping). They even have their own clothing brand, called MUSA and also sell high-end clothing from Australia, New Zealand and England, and various odds and ends you won’t find anywhere else in downtown Walnut Creek.

MUSA is our own brand. It means Made in the U.S.A., and nobody else sells them. We ride and work and hike and shop and dine in these all year round. I travel to NYC every now and then and this is the kind of store I would expect to see in SoHo or the LES, but Walnut Creek?! Incredible. I can’t wait to check it out when it opens next week!

The Walking Company is closing in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek next Saturday, October 26th. According to an employee I spoke with there are no plans to relocate in Broadway Plaza while that area undergoes renovation.
Back in March I noted that a new dry cleaners was coming to the Lafayette Shopping Center a few stores down from Trader Joe’s and they (Green Cleaners) have now closed.
Thanks to a tip from a reader about Life Coach of Lafayette opening up on Oak Hill Rd. next to Millie’s Kitchen in downtown Lafayette.
1280 Willow Pass Rd, Concord
Thanks to a tip from a reader I was alerted to the possibility of Hobby Lobby opening a new location in Concord and have confirmed this is indeed happening and the new store at 1280 Willow Pass Rd. will open in late February or March, 2014. This location used to be Tower Records and Sport Chalet but Guitar Center will remain open next door.
Hobby Lobby’s nearest location is in Antioch so this Concord location will be a lot more convenient for those in the East Bay. Note they are closed on Sundays by, “honoring the Lord in all we do by operating the company in a manner consistent with biblical principles.” Check out their website here. How does Hobby Lobby compare to Michael’s Arts & Crafts in Pleasant Hill? I imagine it’s way bigger?
1545 Locust St, Walnut Creek
A new wine tasting store called Buon Vino will be opening in downtown Walnut Creek on Locust St. Back in June a cafe was planning to open up but now the Public Notice to Sell Alcoholic Beverages sign is up so this looks more promising.
