The Tiffany doors in downtown Walnut Creek post-robbery smash have turned Tiffany blue, soon to be replaced by the real doors. Possibly November according to one reader who asked inside.

An electronic cigarette shop called 3 Kings Vapor is opening today in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek, right near Nordstrom and Howards Shoes for Children. They will offer electronic cigarettes similar to what is available at Just E-Cigs and Vapor Lounge, also in Walnut Creek.
3590 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette
The home furnishings showroom Design & Interiors has closed in downtown Lafayette, however their showroom is still open for a few more days with everything at 80% off retail price. The showroom is being run by an auction house who took over and according to them, the company went into bankruptcy.

The women’s fashion boutique Liliana Castellanos is closing by the end of November in downtown Walnut Creek next to Lottie’s Creamery. They feature clothing from the South American designer Liliana Castellanos and currently everything in the store is 30% off, with an additional 10% off for purchases over $500. Some goods will still be available for purchase on their website here.
Well, that was fast. Brighton Collectibles has reopened in their prime Broadway Plaza spot after a short remodel. Back in August they temporarily relocated to the backside of Broadway Plaza which is now vacant again.
5th Avenue, Manhattan Tiffany door
Check out the door of the New York Tiffany’s location on 5th Avenue in Manhattan. Note the anti-ram barrier pole right in front. Considering what happened to the Walnut Creek Tiffany’s back in August I wonder if crashing through the front door has become a popular way to rob high-end jewelry stores? I wouldn’t be surprised if the Walnut Creek Tiffany’s gets one of these anti-ram barriers in the near future. Then again, it’s far smaller than the 5th Avenue location so maybe it’s not necessary.

The Liberty Bell Plaza kiosks that opened last year in downtown Walnut Creek don’t seem to be looking so good as I dropped by yesterday and noticed every single one of them was closed. On a sunny Sunday afternoon. Is it over or will they reopen as Christmas approaches? Stay tuned…
The historic Danville Hotel, Restaurant and Saloon on Hartz Ave. in downtown Danville is getting redeveloped and “replaced with approximately 35,000 square feet of new residential, retail and restaurant uses” according to the Town of Danville website:
The historic Danville Hotel structure and the McCauley House on Hartz Avenue will both be retained and renovated. Existing uses on the remainder of the 1.12 acre site will be replaced with approximately 35,000 square feet of new residential, retail and restaurant uses. The project will include 16 for-sale second story residential units, averaging 1,200 square feet in size.
Castle Companies, the current co-owner of the property, will be preparing more detailed project drawings for Design Review Board review over the next several months. This effort will be followed up by preparation of building and site improvement drawings for the planned construction in 2012.
Find out more about the project from the Danville Express here.
Back in August I noted that The Squirrel’s Coffee Shop was closing in Lafayette and it looks like the developer is moving quickly as the old Handlebar Toys location has been uncovered so it’s possible to see roof trusses inside. Take a look here to see what the Lafayette Park Plaza shops will look like when it’s finished.
