Last December I noted the opening of the Wax Parlor on Cypress St. in downtown Walnut Creek, and now they have moved to a larger location a couple of stores down where Unveiled Bridal used to be at 1513 Cypress St.

Stores tend to expand or go out of business over time in Walnut Creek but Inge’s Footwear in downtown Walnut Creek is actually contracting to about half its size (to the left) and a new 2625 sf retail space will open up on the right side. According to a leasing page which you can check out here, it includes on site parking in the rear. I always thought this space was huge for Inge’s so this definitely makes sense for everyone involved I imagine.
Word on the street is that a salon will be opening up in the other spot.
Last week I noted the closing of Colton Piano in downtown Walnut Creek on N. Main St. and now a kitchen and bath studio called “At Home with Baystone” will be opening up in this location soon.
Back in June I noted the opening of AZM Jewelers in the back of Broadway Plaza and this month they will be closing. Elegant Living Furniture located next door would like to expand into this location if they can reach an agreement with Broadway Plaza.
In the beginning of January I noted the closing of Wags & Whiskers Pet Boutique in downtown Walnut Creek however there is a flea market of sorts (couldn’t resist) going on both inside and outside the store on weekends with pet inventory, household items, furniture vintage clothing and decorative items on sale for at least one more weekend. Stop by 1528 Locust St. to check it out.
A dry cleaners is replacing Souvenir a French Apartment Shoppe which closed. This is located next to the Rising Loafer bakery cafe and a few doors down from Trader Joe’s in the Lafayette Shopping Center.
Back in December, 2011 I noted the opening of Colton Piano in downtown Walnut Creek on N. Main and recently they have closed. If you’re looking for a piano you can head on over to nearby Music Exchange and Sherman Clay.
Last December I noted that the Tom Matousek popup art gallery had opened in downtown Lafayette behind Patxi’s Pizzeria and recently I noticed work being done on this space which apparently will be a florist.
Last April I noted that Traction Bikes opened in downtown Lafayette on Mt. Diablo Blvd. but unfortunately they are closing. The owner mentioned that he’s looking for someone to take over the lease. That leaves Sharp Bicycle and Hank & Frank Bicycles as the remaining bike shops in Lafayette.
Lots of bridal store action happening in Walnut Creek lately with the bridal boutique Kinsley James Couture Bridal opening up over the weekend. Located at 1623 Mt. Diablo Blvd. around the corner from the Century movie theater, they have a spacious and contemporary interior which looks amazing. You can check out their Facebook page here.
