Last week I noted how the women’s sportswear store Title 9 was relocating around the corner on Mt. Diablo Blvd. and it turns out Men’s Wearhouse, located right next door, is going to take over this space from Title 9.

Red Wagon, the children’s store located at 3535A Mt. Diablo Blvd. in La Fiesta Square, Lafayette is closing by summer when their lease is up. There is a possibility it might be sold instead. I have heard scuttlebutt that a different children’s store in the Piedmont area may relocate to Lafayette so maybe they could take over this place?
Zebra Tattoo & Body Piercing, located at 1419 Broadway in downtown Walnut Creek near the Performance Bicycle store has been open since 2008 although they also have a shop in Berkeley for over 20 years. From their website:
Zebra Tattoo and Body Piercing art attracts interest like magic, lasts a lifetime, and stays young forever. With deep experience, insight and creativity our artists create magic especially for you. Zebra opened twenty years ago in the Bay Area and quickly became known for its high art of tattoo and body piercing backed with strict adherence to sterilization guidelines and its use of non-allergenic dyes. How hip does this make downtown Walnut Creek now that it has a tattoo and body piercing parlor? Does anyone recommend this place?
Grand Couture, the women’s fashion store located at the back side of Broadway Plaza, has closed judging by the empty storefront. This section of Broadway Plaza is turning into the kiss of death for small retailers as two other retailers right next to this have closed as well, U-Threads, and Super Silver Jewelry. The other side isn’t doing so well either, with Down Family Lane and PureBeauty also closing within the past few months.
The Broadway Pointe parking garage, located at N. Main St & Duncan St, right next to Starbucks, and a stone’s throw from Neiman Marcus in downtown walnut creek recently put up signs that are very clear and decisive. One says, “NO NEIMAN MARCUS PARKING”, while the other states, “PARKING FOR BROADWAY POINT SHOPPING ONLY $25.00 CHARGE”.
What I would like to know is, what are the Broadway Pointe stores? I don’t believe I see a list so how would one know? Secondly, how could they possibly enforce this? Could you imagine this scenario?
(Woman walks into garage with Neiman Marcus shopping bag)
Parking Attendant: Exsume me Ma’am, where did you shop today?
Woman: Neiman Marcus.
Parking Attendant: I’m sorry, this garage is for Broadway Pointe shoppers only, see the sign?
Woman: Oh, I didn’t know that.
Parking Attendant: It clearly says, “NO NEIMAN MARCUS PARKING”, so I’m going to have to give you a ticket.(Parking Attendant follows woman back to her car)
Surely this could never happen, right? My guess is that they want Neiman Marcus to pay them a yearly fee to not display the “NO NEIMAN MARCUS” parking sign. Any other thoughts on this?
Tuesday Morning, the discount home goods store, has moved to a new location near Trader Joe’s in downtown Walnut Creek and is now open. Check out the inside below. It’s huge!
Title 9, the women’s sportswear store located at 1576 Botelho Drive next to AAA is moving around the corner to 1637 Mt. Diablo Blvd, where Le Creuset used to be located, to make room for Men’s Wearhouse, which will be expanding. Although the new location is not ideal from a visibility standpoint (the storefront is recessed) and somewhat hard to see walking from the main downtown area, it’s better than it’s current location.
How does Title 9 compare to lululemon?
Fashion designer Erin Fetherston will be available for a Public Personal Appearance on March 28th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Walnut Creek Neiman Marcus to meet and greet and to show off her Spring 2012 Collection .
From an email:
Erin’s Inspiration for Spring:
2012, Erin Fetherston’s romantic aesthetic is infused with bold color and vivid print, expressing a cheerful and sprightly mood. Inspired by the clean and modern silhouettes of the sixties, Fetherston takes Mia Farrow as her muse, intensifying her signature mix of ivory, blush and black with sorbet-inspired shades and butterfly prints as the principle motif for the season. Fetherston ultimately creates a collection of easy to wear pieces that are fresh, poetic and playfully chic.
Back in January I noted that the Bonne Nuit Lingerie store was closing, and it looks like this is their last week open. They shared space with jeu.de.jupe, who are remaining. They are located at 1387 North Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek.
Last month I noted that Studio Blue Digital Print and Copy was for lease, and now Mika Specialty Salon, located right next door on Locust St. has closed as well. According to their website, they had been in business there for 11 years.
Now that the entire building has vacated, I wonder what the owner has in store. It’s a prime location right in downtown Walnut Creek.
