New Dirito Volkswagen Showroom Opening in 2 Weeks

Looks like the new Dirito Brothers Volkswagen showroom is almost done. According to Volkswagen Walnut Creek, it should be open in 2 weeks, just in time for Thanksgiving. The current Dirito Brothers Volkswagen showroom will be hosting Nissan cars. So if you plan on getting a Volkswagen soon, you might want to wait a couple more weeks and check out what the new showroom has to offer. The new showroom is located a block away at Pringles Ave. and N. Main St., near Target.

According to the Walnut Creek Project Pipeline:

A project that will demolish 40,787 sq.ft of floor area on 2.74 acres to make way for a new 29,731 square-foot automotive sales and service building. A portion of the site will be used for vehicle inventory, customer parking, and outdoor vehicle displays. The project consists of grading, new traffic signals, relocation or undergrounding of utilities, and street and sidewalk improvements.

Fancy Pants – Closed

Fancy Pants, the boutique women’s clothing and accessories shop, which was located on Cypress St. in downtown Walnut Creek has closed. Interestingly, the For Rent sign notes that the place rents for $1800, anyone interested?

Door of the Day

These cool looking door handles are on the Labels consignment store at 1367 N. Main St. in Walnut Creek. Nice touch.

Filthy Gorgeous Latest Location

Filthy Gorgeous has moved quite a bit around Walnut Creek, recently having a prime spot on N. Main St. However, they have now moved to Broadway Plaza, right next to Boudin Bakery. It’s nicely decorated, but I wonder how this location will do.

Walnut Creek talks Broadway Plaza Expansion Tomorrow

The Contra Costa Times reports today about Broadway Plaza expansion plans:

Macerich may seek to build 200 residential units at its site. The plan may also call for the demolition of an existing 200,000 square feet of retail space, then rebuild that along with an additional 200,000 or 300,000 square feet of retail space, according to an meeting agenda report.

Macerich also seeks close off most of Broadway Plaza street to create a promenade and plaza.

I think blocking off the street through Broadway Plaza would be a smart move on their part. Hardly any auto traffic moves through there currently, and the extra space available to make it nicer for shoppers and pedestrians would improve foot traffic and time spent at nearby stores. Adding some restaurants wouldn’t be so bad either. As much as I like Nordstrom Cafe, Boudin Bakery and P.F. Chang’s, a little more diversity wouldn’t hurt.

Free Harp Class!

Did you know Walnut Creek has a harp store?! According to their website www.harpsetc.com they offer a free “Try the Harp Class” on the third Saturday of every month. Sounds interesting to say the least.

Hanna’s Bags is Moving

Hanna’s Bags, located across the street from Prima Ristorante on N. Main St. is moving down the block according to owner Farouk. They’re still deciding between two potential spots. Has anyone shopped here? I must have walked by this street hundreds of times and never noticed it before. I believe the French clothing store Jeu De Jupe used to be here.
